I haven't seen anyone in this particular discussion advocating for an 11th house. Someday that might be necessary, but right now I'd argue more innovative and possibly adventurous solutions are necessary. Spreading guests around the resort is an interesting tactic, but its going to take a LOT more then the current hotel offerings - and Coconut, while wonderful, lacks the size or broad appeal to make a real dent.
However, there are a handful of realistic options I would like for them to attempt before they start jacking up prices like expanding entertainment options.
Universal's limitations have it bursting at the seams and they could benefit from a larger plot of land.
Genuine question, what type of options
would work for adding capacity then that they aren't doing? Right now, we're looking at:
Don't Do:
- Add an 11th house (staffing)
- Add a show to Bourne (safety issues and more discussed previously in the thread)
Already Done:
- Expanded the event nights to another new record high
- Expanded the park hours to 2 AM every night for the first time last year
- Added things to do outside of the parks to spread people out (Dead Coconut, hotel elements, etc.)
- Added the Tribute Store, escalated food stands/bars, etc.
- Two shows that do very well with attendance
- Mini stage shows within zones to try to keep crowds sticking around
Horror Make Up theater's capacity is
low so anything there would have minimal impact. Animal Actors is in a rough bottleneck area as it is (especially with Kidzone construction this year). Music Plaza stage is queue space. BMG is used for Grinchmas prep/rehearsals.
The lagoon this year seems iffy. A show could be possible in the usual Hollywood corner as a replacement for the lagoon, but it would still only leave us with 2 shows.
Well aware of the size difference. Universal knows there is potential for well-themed bars/lounges for HHN, just look at the Weeknd bar "attempt" last year. They just didn't commit to the idea fully and relied on a few graphics on the bar paneling.
But isn't this exactly what Dead Coconut Club is doing? Just in a place where they actually have the space to make the vision happen?
