I am in the opposite camp. No more Purge.

Actually, the code names aren’t a thing anymore. They just do the house numbers now. To add to that, we know with 98% certainty which houses are what numbers. So we definitely know what house we are in this year. Specific roles aren’t told to us until fittings. But I do know where I will be scaring y’all this year....unless a recasting happens. Haha

I’m very curious how the new guidelines will affect the zones and houses. Could we still see plexiglass to protect the actors? Zones still using small stages to keep distance?

It's honestly too early to say right now. I doubt plexi will be up and I think the most they're going to do is encourage social distancing inside the houses. But it's either that or a normal HHN. I just hope they allow any cast to continue to wear masks if they choose. I know I'll still be wearing my mask to the parks for a while.

I think there is an almost 0% chance of plexiglass in the houses. Having it there is more dangerous than not having it there.

I’m just curious how is it more dangerous? Germs being trapped in one area rather then aired out?

I think they will enforce masks in the houses. Similar to what they are doing with the attractions.

Grocery stores (Publix, Walmart, Costco, Trader Joes, etc.) and SeaWorld/Busch Gardens have already dropped masks indoors. I think there's genuinely no chance that Uni continues on another 4-5 months with masks exclusively enforced indoors. I'd be shocked if they don't drop the masks in the next month honestly.

As for plexiglass, I'd look at Disney beginning to remove plexiglass in attractions as a sign of what to expect for HHN (nothing).

Maybe but you are still indoors, and the ventilation really isn’t the best in those areas so as long as they are required on attractions, I would argue they would be required in these houses.

The grocery stores & SeaWorld/BG aren't requiring masks indoors.

I'm not arguing my personal take on it all. I just see absolutely no way as a business that they even bother trying at this point for 5 more months when others are already giving up the restrictions, the CDC is saying vaccinated folks don't need masks indoors, and first dose vaccinations in the US would be at or beyond the 70% mark by some current estimates. It would be a losing fight.

---

Another good way to put it. This is FL data:

DateAverages 7-day casesAverage New Cases State Positivity Rate according to DoHAt least one shot (18 or Older)Fully vaccinated (18 or older)
April 15th6,2777.38%44.48%27.92%
May 15th3,2784.69%54.23%42.63%

With vaccinations continuing to rise, and cases continuing to plummet, I can't picture a world where cases are bad enough 4-5 months from now that corporations see masks as necessary.

Obvious trend line is obvious.

The real question is, will Universal allow facemasks (on a voluntary basis) or will they be banned as a potential threat to security?

Sir this is not fun spot.

In all seriousness there's no way they ban standard ear looping face masks.

I seriously hope they wouldn’t be so shortsighted as to ban face masks while we’ll probably still be recovering from a global pandemic.

There's absolutely no way they'd be that callous as long as it's a regular facemask and not an actual mask.

Yeah, this isn't a serious question. I've seen it asked a few times with respect to different places. Seems more like wishful thinking from those who would like to see them banned than anything else, by and large.

Wouldn't it be something to buy official merch one year and have it be banned from the park the next?

AFAIK - Purge will not be coming back for the foreseeable future. Besides the fact that the sponge has been wrung dry, it's just asking for headaches. The last time they had the zone, they had to make changes due to several mass shootings; and with certain subject matter being hot topics - it's just not worth it.

The only way I ever see it is if it's a last-minute change and they have no other option.

Ever see people traveling at the airport(highly secure) wearing medical masks because they either don't want to transmit or catch something during flu season? Before the pandemic?

Yeah, unless you're going into a bank where they may need you to pull it down to identify yourself for the camera, before putting it back up, a ban is not happening.

I certainly hope they don't ban face masks. I've been waiting two years to wear my Iron Maiden face mask at the park in support of the Greatest House Idea Ever.

Jokes aside, I expect a normal event this year (which I wouldn't have said even a couple months ago). Universal is a business and they will want to crowd the park to full capacity to take advantage of pent up demand, and I'm sure it's there. I'd fully expect what's been alluded to in the thread, such as a 20% price increase and lots of sold out nights. From an operations standpoint, it's likely far simpler to run a normal event instead of having to have staff enforce mask usage and try to find enough space for social distancing, plus they can run tours as normal, so it's the best possible outcome for them. Based on how things are going, I simply don't see a world in which it makes any business sense to have any restrictions for HHN.

Realistically the best way to do that is to have a mask requirement. Having masks + mostly vaccinated (at least >50%) means transmission in the houses should be manageable, even if you've got a conga line.

Ventilation in the houses is bad by design, it's the only way you can keep fog from dissipating.
