Capacity on hagrids is sub par. Yes they run lots of trains but it’s to make up only holding 14 people each.

The other coasters hold 24 on Velocicoaster and 32 on Hulk.

Hollywood drift at USH might suffer a similar problem only holding 16 people a train.

Ride capacity is a function of vehicle capacity and dispatch time. Hagrid has a higher dispatch time to make up for the fewer people on the vehicle. It’s why FJ and MU have quick show scenes and always moving but Ministry stays in scenes longer.

My friend said Express was backed up all the way on Sunday night.

I was there Sunday night and waited in express. The line was backed up all the way to the queue entrance and looked very intimidating, but it only took about 35 minutes which I’m totally fine with. Had similar experiences other times this year when the queue was backed up to that point - bark is much worse than its bite. Also plenty of times riding Velocicoaster with express close to backed up to the entrance, with around a 30 minute total wait (also completely fine with this). Pretty bummed to hear this as a premier passholder.

my guess is that the biggest issue with this ride and Express is how successful the ride is. My guess is the issue is after 4 PM and evening in particular. I would guess that most folks staying at a Deluxe that includes Unlimited Express at North would likely enjoy a nighttime ride add them to all the premier APs who are going to ride after 4 PM would need a high ratio of express to stand by, BUT lost capacity elsewhere certainly has a real impact on guest satisfaction, so it makes as much sense that this could be temporary.

Guessing when the Premier AP's hit the park on weekends, that the Express line explodes after 4:00 PM. Saturday especially, is always a day with very heavy AP attendance....(Heh @Frank Drackman , we came up with the same guess, simultaneously :lmao: )

USH Hollywood Drift will have 5 trains running and has dual loading stations. I don’t think capacity will be an issue.

Both are important, but not dispositive. Mine-Cart Madness has plenty of “trains” and a relatively seamless dispatch, but that doesn’t stop it from being a capacity disaster.

Hollywood Drift, if it has issues, will probably mirror Hagrids. Multiple trains and efficient loading, but lowered cycle and dispatch times as a result of classic Intamin technical issues. Joe (above) is right that Hagrids is supposed to have better dispatch times to combat the trains’ lower capacity, but the ride has seldom been able to do so for a plethora of reasons.

I can see why however let’s compare like (Hollywood Drift) with like (Velocicoaster). Both are high capacity/people eaters:

Velocicoaster has 3 trains running with 32 passengers, no lift hill to slow the ride down, however it doesn’t have dual-loading stations. Ride time is longer 120 seconds.

Drift has 5 trains running with 16 passengers (80 in total, 15 fewer than Velocicoaster) however they have dual loading stations AND people are disembarking from the cars before the cars move forward to load up with the next pax. And the ride time is incredibly shorter (90 seconds from launch to final break run).

That’s why I feel that Hollywood Drift will have no problem eating crowds.

It’s a fair assessment, and I agree with you on paper, but we don’t know what we don’t know. There could always be some quirk in the brake run or launch that delays a cycle by 20 seconds.

And based on watching some of the cars not rotating (intentional glitch or not), I can see this ride having some growing pains during its first year of operation.

With the moving unload/load, how does it have dispatch issues? Are they slowing the conveyer down?

You're fine with it but the average guest who paid for Express might not be as they're used to those lines being much quicker. So if satisfaction is low on both fronts, it makes sense to lose it. Though it's sad for me as a non-local Premier AP. I'll be back to rarely getting to ride it again. :lmao:

Probably a drop coming after July 1 for IOA Express Pass sales. ...and maybe cancellations of some IOA Express Pass pre sales.
