Five Nights at Freddy's (HHN 2025)

Oof, this is a case where I really feel bad for you guys. As a fan of the series, experiencing the opening scene in Orlando's version gave me chills. It was such a cool experience for someone like me, and it's utterly disappointing that Hollywood isn't replicating that scene as it should. I don't care if Freddy is more articulated, if you don't have all three up there...you don't have the scene, you don't have the moment. All you have is the very obvious sign that you don't got the budget, period.

That's a real shame; I was really impressed by the presentation in Orlando. I guess I'll check it out next week and judge for myself.

Right? Of all the scenes to skimp on, they did it to the one which most folks are probably wanting to see out of everything. Orlando absolutely understood the assignment for the opening scene.

But here? They bring back houses like Poltergeist pretty much as-is black walls and all to save on budget for an IP like this, and yet they still can't nail the one visual folks want.

This would’ve been much better. They could even have put like a dust outline of them to show they’ve gone. And then put them in the next boo hole.

I just don’t see a world where this was always the plan.

I don't know how expensive mannequins would have been, but why not put tables or podiums and only build half of them, have them behind a podium or something, couldn't be weirder than shadows in curtains, or their heads peeking from behind the curtains at least, just the heads.

It's okay to be disappointed and frustrated. I certainly am. You can also disagree with the solution they went with if they simply didn't have the budget to execute all three figures - you know Murdy would've thrown them all up there in a heartbeat if he could've, if not just to avoid this predictable blowback.

Throwing a public tantrum and directly attacking a creative like this is sophomoric, embarrassing, and uncalled for.

I'm really hoping they can just remove the curtains come week two.

I've talked with a few people, and the removal of the curtains might actually help out the scene. It'd help add "Oh hey! Where's Chica and Bonnie?" like the games, in a way that I think would be infinitely better than what the hell is the current setup.

Having actually gone now, I will say lone Freddy is still very dissappointing, but I don't think it soured the house for me, and the good news is I don't think itll sour it for most fnaf fans even if it takes the wind out of your sails a bit. It's not really scary at all but it is just so cool to get to walk around these environments and characters, aside from the obvious glaring part, it is very close to Orlandos, and it does honestly feel a lot like an Orlando house as youre walking through it.

Anyway now onto the REAL thing to be mad about, no Golden Freddy? Spraypaint one of those Freds yellow NOW! /j

I have my doubts, Hollywood (to my knowledge) has never done a trigger effect in a maze at all. But wasn't sure if anyone knew anything for sure.

There is a GAT for Terrifier, but I don't think FNAF has one? Or atleast, if there is, it hasn't been talked about.

I finally got around to watching the Orlando version and it's astonishing how similar they are, but Orlando's has the edge for a few reasons:
1) extra scenic in some spots, just makes those moments feel more full and alive and it truly isn't even that much but it helps, plus, obviously the animatronics in the beginning
2) sheets to cover up the weak spots like being able to see the puppeteers behind the puppets and the TERRIBLE hands coming through the walls -- even the cupcake coming through the walls have extra "debris" surrounding it to just give it that extra little bit of hiding the effect before you get to that area
3) the sound design is less grating, at least from what I could tell, for all I know it's the same exact soundtrack, but little things like the little kid saying "follow me" isn't played every .5 seconds ad nauseum like in Hollywood.

The only main con, and I've noticed this in most Orlando videos across the board over the years, is the scareactors just don't quite match the movies enough. The people they cast don't quite fit, the costumes somehow look a bit cheaper, and the makeup isn't always super solid. The kids wearing a mask don't bother me in the Hollywood version, as I've heard a few people say.

After finally having gone through this house myself yesterday, yeah I absolutely feel the pain of how we only got Freddy on stage, especially after seeing how Florida's is virtually the same aside from that one thing. Though that oddly wasn't enough to sour the whole thing for me, it was still cool seeing the set design from the movie in real life, especially since I took it upon myself to watch it ahead of my visit yesterday.

Funny enough, this was the only house I did where I can safely say I was more excited than scared. The not so intense scares helped, which is honestly fine for someone like me.

Finally, I thought I'd mention something I'm not sure that's been mentioned or seems to be noticeable in videos from opening weekend, but I think I actually saw Foxy's eye hiding within the curtains of where he is supposed to be (as well as the ghost kid of him). Not sure if that's indicative that there's a full stationary Foxy behind the curtain, but I've thankfully got something to show for it.

Pardon me if it's a little blurry, had to screenshot from my personal recording of my walkthrough.

I thought that was a cool touch to get people curious before the ghost kid reveals himself, but now it's more interesting with the possibility that this wasn't there before. If it indeed wasn't, could there perhaps still be hope for the full three being on stage?

If that ends up happening, that might be the only thing that gets me to come back to HHN a second time this year. I wouldn't miss that for the world.
