Pinhead on Reddit has indicated that it is a house. Additionally; the soundstage has been fully cleared out now--with the last thing rolled out recently was seemingly the Xanathar puppet.

@Viator thanks for the update. I guess clearing out SS15 opens up the possibilities, if indeed, it is a maze (I guess it's not officially announced).

It will be interesting to see what they do. There's a lot of possibilities until Uni says what it is.

I can’t simply find the words at the moment how much this means to me, alas, I will try.

I went to my first Halloween Horror Nights in 2017. It’s not an exaggeration to say that night changed my entire life. I loved HHN, every minute of it and when it was time to leave at 2AM, I was so exhausted. But I had two thoughts.

1. I am going to come back and experience this event every single year.
(Which is something I have held true too, even in Covid)

And

2. How cool would it be if Five Nights at Freddy’s came to the event as a house?

After this, for years and years I defended its existence across HNN and IU, usually getting laughed at for even suggesting something so unlikely. Which tbf was a reasonable line of thinking in 2018 and 2019’s speculation seasons. After a while I started losing hope, especially after last year. If not then will it even ever? So when it started to become a rumor this year I stayed highly speculative about how legit the rumor was.

Obviously the years of hoping and wishing have finally payed off and Five Nights At Freddy’s is coming to Halloween Horror Nights (What an insane and surreal thing to finally say)
I could go on forever and ever but the important thing is that now I can really rest.

I wanna say thank you to A&D for bringing my dream to life. Also, I know you have been very particular with collaborations in the past but huge props to Scott Cawthon for finding the time and the energy to bring Freddy and Friends to Universal.

To anyone here that really isn’t familiar with Five Nights, I encourage you to buy and play the first game (It’s very cheap). It’s one of the simplest yet effective horror games I’ve ever played.

Can’t wait for more information and to fully over analyze everything. Truly a dream come true.

I might only do this particular house since I'm familiar with the source material. If there's anything that's not on a similar to level to GhostBusters, TLOU and Stranger Things that's just pure gore and stuff meant to look hideous all around you, count me out. I'm just gonna take advantage of the ride times if they're lower than usual.

I know it’s not exactly your forte, but if you can brave it, it’s a lot of fun! Besides, I think you’ll enjoy it as I feel like it will rely more on AAs than scares like Chucky. Even then the scares will likely be predictable with how big the costumes will be.

I really do think them being vague about it was a mistake. At least say it's a house, most of us know it's a house but I've seen so many people say they don't think it's a house now. It's getting ridiculous

I think it's possible even they don't know the full scope of it yet so they don't want to say too little or too much that they can't expressly promise. My guess is they wanted to start the hype and it'll be a full dump of info later: house, pizza eatery, scarezone, meet & greet, and maybe even something in DWT.

They know the scope of it. This announcement was seemingly not planned at all as someone at the Blumhouse panel unknowingly opened their mouth which caught the attention of Uni and forced them to put *something* out.

I predict this one will have the highest....if not second highest highest wait time

This IP appeals to both gamers and the younger generations and I think will do well unless the house just sucks but doubt that

Seems it was unintended to be announced this early but they got the heads up from movie media and was able to whip up what we have now (atleast me speculating).

The general public is assuming it's a haunted house. Fan sites/groups are not a good sample size for this type of thing. The unplanned announcement/information drip is annoying, sure, but it's ultimately a non-issue.
