It's a blast half buzzed with friends, ngl. Still not "good". Like watching Manos.

My vote s is it's closing earlier than planned as a cost cutting measure. As I guessed in May, the parks were slow in June. Some of the entertainment shows at USF, that I had jotted down the show times from the Universal web site for the days of my trip, ended up cutting back the number of shows some of the days we were there. Kind of angered me since I showed up according to the earlier posted schedule to find out the late afternoon shows were cut. Anyway....

As you all know, I've been one of the most vocal critics of Supercharged since it's been open. But I was only able to catch a ride or two during the past few years since Alene refused to ride it, she disliked it immensely. Soooo, it was towards the end of the June vacation with the girls, and I decided we would ride it since I had basically run out of fresh stuff for the girls to experience. Alene wasn't going to say no to the girls, so away we went. It was mid afternoon, a time of day when the park is generally most crowded, even on a slow day. Well, we saw no one else in the queue, and by the time we got to the first preview room there were only two other people there. I felt bad for the TM's doing both preview shows since there was only six guests to perform their spiel for. When we got to the ride itself there were only a small handful of people waiting to board an empty bus. We totaled less than a dozen guests. The bus sat there for a number of minutes. I'm guessing they were waiting for more guests to show up. Finally, three people showed up and they put them on the bus (Note: they only run one bus now, not the two co joined like in the first couple years of the attraction). So the very small group finally sets off on the journey. Of course, the ride was terrible. I had tried slapstick/campy humor as a way to enjoy the ride in its early days, but it's so bad that didn't work for me either.

Sooo, finally the ride ends. I asked Layla if she liked the ride. She said no. I asked Scarlett what she thought of the attraction. Amazingly, she said she 'liked' it. I was shocked :lmao: . Supercharged has 'a fan' after all.

It’s a bit odd that we don’t have firm rumors for this spot. We’ve had a pretty good idea about Pokémon for a while…

I’d like to think people will miss this more when it’s gone, but I guess only I will. I’ve always felt the attraction got dumped on unfairly. There are worse rides in the same park that don’t get anything like the same hate.

Maybe it’s two churro stands and they know we can’t handle so much amazingness.

I thought one of the biggest running rumors was BTTF/Hill Valley especially since Universal UK is long rumored to get a BTTF coaster?

Yeah to be quite honest, Supercharged is better than Minion Mayhem lol. And that was even before MM got rid of the glasses.

Like @Parkscope Joe said - my guess is that they were already planning to close this for HHN anyway, so they figured they'd just keep it closed and get it over with.

I hated this ride because it was such awful quality and a waste of an IP that, while it is not my personal favorite, I agreed it deserved something...actually fast..and furious lol.

That said, I did come around to how campy and self-aware the pre-show became. At times, it could be hilarious.

August 16 is a "Passholder Night" at USF. This means, the final ride on Supercharged will be exclusive to any AP Holder who coincidentally reserved that night.

That's assuming Supercharged is open that night and doesn't have its final ride before the AP Night begins.

Personally, I hope they have the final ride before the AP night event begins. I think it would be unfair to any general admission guests, Team Members (who aren't working), or for other AP holders who didn't reserve that night if they were excluded.

(This is speaking as someone who did reserve August 16.)

If it is open that night, the TMs are REALLY going to have fun in the preshows

The preshow gave the attraction more rerideability then most in the park and the stupidity of the ride was a great match for the stupidity of the IP. Dumb in an amusing way - that’s what you need out of a Fast and Furious ride.

Definitely need dumb...but also need something fast and furious lol. The coaster will be exactly what that IP needed the first time around. If they can manage to keep some dumb humor in the queue for the coaster, that would be the perfect balance.

If I were Universal and to save the ride, I would have at least tried a few nights with "live" (recorded) onboard audio from the team member working that night. This would have added the same kind of campy humor during the ride and not just before it.

I remember one night during the OI meetup, my dad and I walked in to ride because it was raining. There was a considerably large group coming in with us.

The individual running the pre-show spun around and mid-shock that there were people in the line, said

“Oh…it’s raining isn’t it”

Favorite memory of this ride. I hate it so much.

The fact that team members are aware that people were only riding it because its raining speaks volumes about its awfulness lol.

If you’re adapting the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd film, sure, build a coaster. But no one cares about those anymore. It’s not a series about street racing anymore - three of the last four films haven’t even had “fast” in the title!

The modern IP is known for:

1) “Family”
2) idiotic vehicle based stunts - they orbited the Earth in an old car!
3) being deeply stupid and a lot of fun

The current attraction captures SOME of that - Vin hangs off a drone! They hit the baddie with a steam shovel! A roller coaster is just so bland for what is essentially a superhero series with vehicle-based superpowers.

I understand the sentiment and genuinely appreciate seeing some passion for what (little) this ride did right - but the war is lost, and has been for a very, very, very long time. The fans and GP have spoken, and that coaster is going to fit everyone's expectations of a proper F&F E-Ticket immeasurably more than Supercharged ever did.
