Got to experience today's ops! The line was a LOT smoother, they definitely worked on whatever they needed to to get the ride out alot faster.

I even got to see a valley! They fixed it extremely fast and didn't even need to announce a delay.

What really makes me amazed is the USH community all collectively celebrating this coaster. One of the ops managing the line outside kept hyping up the crowd, "Who's been waiting all summer!" *crowd cheers*. When the Valley happened and was being launched out everyone cheered as they made it up the hill. Just incredible people.

Considering the noise complaints, I understand both parties here.

Universal as a studio and park has existed for 114 years and the studio is probably a lot more of a concern (explosions, flashing lights, late night filming, etc.) so dare I say what did the neighbors expect? Special red carpet treatment? They are communicative and the park has the obligation to the studio as well; they are working at it and trying to get the ride shut down is just the "Old Man yells at cloud" meme.

But I also understand the neighbor's complaints too. USH has been a screen based park for decades until the switch flipped, and the park isn't really known for its high speed outdoor thrill coasters... of which there were none. I can't relate to the rich people golfing and hanging out in their backyards who expect nothing but clouds and rainbows but... don't forget they are just as human as you are lol. Their opinions, despite how out of touch you may feel they are, matter and whatever Universal agreed to they need to keep.

We could debate up and down if the complaints are just 3 really loud old people or an actual concern but this is a developing situation and I hope things work out for everyone. I want the park to succeed and I want the neighbors to feel valued by the mega corporation next door. As it stands Universal clearly cares about pleasing them, so we'll see.

I’m just not sure what they can do to fix this. Other than enclose the whole coaster. Their idea of putting those glass sound barriers around the highest peaks of the ride was a good idea, but people scream at just about anything, not just the most thrilling parts.

If this ride has to operate at limited hours or capacity due to this, it will be a nightmare to get on it.

Yes. You can.

Shoot, it was Korea, but enough residents around a military base complained about the constant helicopters that the local government now pays them a monthly stipend as a form of reimbursement (because they can’t move the base).

The community does have a say.

For me on the noise its about what was promised, they have machines that can measure sound if its louder then expected then this is on USH

I know people want the coaster but you can't make promises and not keep them,but we don't have the facts yet so not much to say until we know what the promise was

Well, I ain't on a message board for Toluca Lake fans, so I am biased towards the company that built the rollercoaster. And "concerned neighbors" have indeed caused a lot of problems around the country.

But let's be real-- they're not blocking an affordable housing development. It's all gonna be fine.

Well, I ain't on a message board for Toluca Lake fans, so I am biased towards the company that built the rollercoaster. And "concerned neighbors" have indeed caused a lot of problems around the country.

But let's be real-- they're not blocking an affordable housing development. It's all gonna be fine.

I grew up in Orlando. This same thing happened when Islands of Adventure went up. Neighbors close by and Dr. Phillips High School complained about the noise but...eventually...it all pretty much blew over. I don't even think there was any kind of substantial lawsuit to my memory or anything or if it was it was handled was probably handled quietly. I know they built a barrier wall that was painted to look like trees that kind of hid the coasters from clear view from the street but I'm not sure how much of that was in relation to the noise complaints or if that was just the original design always.

Could be, I'm just pointing out we don't have all the info and while yes they live next to a theme park but if promises were made for me at least that makes its more complicated then

Also maybe it just rolls over but its a Rich neighborhood and if you look at the world, many times those with money get what they want more then those without and if they have the right connections can try push for something to happen. I know the public seems not on their side but the public goes against many things and in the end the money wins no matter what most normal people think. Not saying they will get anything but also want people to keep in mind this is a pretty rich neighborhood

Can confirm, most of the time, you wouldn't hear it in the classroom. The deeper in the school you were, the less you heard outside. The classrooms closest to Turkey Lake (where I spent most of my time), if you were outside, you heard it pretty clearly.

UO back in the day, not sure now, routinely sent tickets to residents of Orange Tree and the homes alongside Turkey Lake not part of the subdivision to help with this and garner some goodwill from them. They have also limited firework shows in the past due to it. I also wouldn't attribute all of the traffic on Turkey Lake to Universal (that would be a weird way to truly access the parks, though you're able to). As mentioned in the article, that school reached 5K kids at one point before they opened additional high schools, and parts of Turkey Lake is a two lane road that would routinely backup when I went there.
