This isn't he said she said. If Universal is saying this, they're confident. Good for Scott for getting them on the record!

I was gonna say thank God for this. This morning the news about a potential delay has been spreading like wildfire, and I'm not sure whether to make heads or tails about it. Doesn't help that influencers have been fanning those flames by reacting to it.

I’m sure the park knew there could be unforeseen issues, and prepared for them. That’s why they chose to market “summer” with no other specifications.

As someone who did many hundreds of TV interviews in the 80's and 90's......TV reporters get stories wrong as often as they get them right. Most reporters have very little knowledge, or background, on what they are reporting.

So perhaps again this was indeed annoyed residents... with connections... getting a story pushed out there, potentially to bring USH to the table behind the scenes?

What's your source on the paid media coverage?

The spoiler flying off strikes me as an echo chamber issue.

Because that’s what that type of story is, the news isn’t going to just report on it without a source lol I’m not saying it’s 100% paid but that’s what these types of news stories are lol

If you don’t believe the spoiler story that’s on you.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, on both counts. If you're suggesting a local news station was literally paid to put out a news story about noise-related rollercoaster nuisances... that's quite the claim. No idea what you're getting at re: the "source," because, of course. The sources are the neighbors complaining.

As for the spoiler story... everyone's source there seems to be some variation of "trust me" or "I heard it from some people who told me to trust them." It screams telephone game.

Here is what we do know: If the core issue with the delay truly lies with the noise issues, why is there no testing going on? Why are there *seemingly* less trains visible on top of that?

I’m not saying I believe the whole spoiler thing as gospel truth, but clearly something significant happened to where everything just stopped. An inspection must have failed or something.

No, it isn't. Generally local TV reporters have very little background knowledge on the subject they're interviewing someone on. Their interpretation often reflects that. It got to the point I'd always script what I wanted to concentrate on before an interview so that my 15 second sound bite was accurate to the story, instead of a reporter trying to condense a 10 minute interview into their soundbite. Heh, I did this , as I said, many hundreds of times of times over the years, plus numerous radio interviews and shows on both. My newspaper clippings alone are three binders totaling more than 12 inches thick. I speak from experience, not theory. The only reporters that were 'fairly' accurate were the political beat newspaper reporters that were regulars for the subject. The local TV reporters were nowhere near that level of expertise.

Just like your columns on TPI. You're very knowledgeable about theme parks, thus your stories are basically quite accurate. You're kind of like those newspaper beat reporters from the past. But some nickel and dime 'influencer' that has little theme park background, writes a lot of click bait. Same happens with local TV. They run a reporter out for a number of stories to cover, and they don't really have the time or resources to deliver an accurate report, unless their source is someone like @Alicia in the case of theme parks, or a company press release. Probably one reason they use her so often in Orlando.

Not that I would know what a local news reporter would do, but you ask 3 questions and take 8 second sound bites from each question and edit them into a minute and 30 second package. 2 more sound bites for the teases.

Yes. You have that inside background working as a cameraman/sometimes reporter for an Orlando TV station for a number of years. ....Nothing against the general reporters, but they aren't provided with the resources, or the time, to do much more than what you described. And now, with slashed newsroom budgets, and few veteran reporters on most staffs, they don't even have the info inside sources they did a few decades ago. And true investigative staff reporters are a disappearing breed.
