The only thing drifting is the opening date lol.

I guess Universal are doing everything they can and want it to open as much as we do, but they have to get it right first. The crowds when this does open, that will be insane.

I wonder what will happen if this opens during say HHN

Like most people have work and many wont be able to travel in unless its a weekend or HHN date

So I think while it will be busy, could have some days with lower crowds on like a Tuesday, I could be wrong but it opening in September would be such an interesting time for the park

Also lets say the crowds are nuts will USH, just stay open to 8 PM so people with jobs can get on it or do you force people to come on HHN days to get a chance to ride it?

Oh no, this doesn't sound good.
news story from CBS LA:
Universal Studios neighbors complain about noise from new Fast and Furious ride
Sounds like Universal is actively looking into the issue.
Reporter at the end said the ride is expected to open sometime this year.

I don’t live far from these folks. And they complain all the time, and not just about the coaster. They have been complaining about HHN and the loud sounds forever. This coaster won’t get a moment’s peace once it opens.

I feel like we've been over this and it's probably a non issue if they've always complained about stuff other than the coaster. I think I even saw an Instagram post previously shared here as b-roll there.

Let me play you a sad song on the world's smallest violin...i wish I had a over million dollar house within a 5 mins drive of Universal

Move if you don't like it, or use some of your money and sound proof your house

You might not care, but Universal needs to take these complaints seriously ... especially if they're backed up by data that shows this coaster has made the noise measurably worse.

I don’t know much about how USH works, but because of the location, wouldn’t they have needed to receive approval to build the coaster? Meaning studies were completed, consultation, and the city said go for it?

Would there really be any actual recourse at this point from neighbours, due to sound?

Potentially, yes. My understanding is that part of getting Vision 2030 approved was doing a wide array of sound testing to set a baseline for future expansion/projects. Universal is obliged to keep additions within a certain threshold at the various sound recording spots along its perimeter.

I don't know why the coaster is delayed, but Universal does not benefit by telling the neighbors to go pound sand. They want to work things out.

This is why we have scream shields and they turn away from the neighbors as much as they can

The issue for the park is the Golf Course, its just a huge area with nothing blocking sounds so things are going to Travel

If I was living their, I'd just have Fake or real Hedges outside to block sounds and also put sound proof panels where I can, along with blackout curtains if I was really bothered by it

Someone posted a video from somewhere with how it sounds but I need to go on a weekday day or after work and see what you can hear, but also I can't find videos easily about the sounds so if its bad no one from their is posting it on youtube anyway

I guess the question would be… what is a reasonable and expected amount of sound if you neighbour a theme park, and are these people’s complaints legitimate, or just a way to seek financial compensation / settlements, or get their name out there.

I’d assume USH will want to protect their new coaster, and could try to add additional sound dampening, but could also get a court to determine the legitimacy of the complaints, if it escalates.

There are defined ways to measure decibel levels. The park/studio has standing agreements with the neighbors on what's permitted, which has shaped how Horror Nights operates (i.e. Terror Tram closing early).

Right, they can obviously test the sound if people complain, but if it's below the allowed decibels...

For all we know it's just people complaining about "change" right now. I wouldn't put much stock in the complaints having any impact on the coaster testing/delay.

It's obviously a big change for the surrounding area, and there will be new sound regardless. The question comes down to, is it reasonable and within any agreed limits? I am sure USH is looking at it carefully.

But I do think this may mean that the coaster won't run during HHN...

Well, are we certain it's below the allowed decibels?

I always assumed the coaster would have to close early on Horror Nights, just in the way that Hulk and Dueling Dragons couldn't run super late when the event ran at Islands of Adventure.

I don’t know if anyone beside USH would currently know whether it’s above or below.

Right, but it seems like you were assuming/leaning toward assuming that the neighbors are complaining just to complain, and that Universal was likely holding up their end of the bargain.

I think Universal's official comment to this story was telling. They didn't deny that there was an issue. They also didn't say the coaster was going to open this summer.
