You know, I think some of the responses here might be a bit of an overreaction, but this comment is uncalled for. If there is any place where discussing the nuances of a park's theme is warranted, it is on a theme park forum. People talk about this or the removal of rides online because it is something they genuinely care about.

Nobody says it has to matter to you, and ultimately these companies will do what they want to do. Still, you have the option to not engage in the conversation if it does not interest you, rather than mocking people for their opinions.

Thank you. I always find it quite shocking on this forum particularly how many members can be very dismissive of valid criticisms or opinions when it comes to theming, story telling, and the direction Universal is choosing to go.

Like this is a board filled with theme park fans, why does it matter what the average member of the general public thinks? Half the time they can’t figure out the difference between Universal and Disney.

But we know the difference, and we know the direction Universal has been going, so certain choices often feel like a regression, when at the same time they make choices that feel industry leading. I’d kind of just prefer some consistency in what the theme park division is executing.

It's a film. We're experiencing a film set.

Except Jamacia isn't exclusive to just an island. We have Paris Texas as well. Jacksonville NC and FL.

My only thing is we have been griping about how much of a Hodge podge the studios park is and they it needs better cohesiveness. I could see if they are saying they are filming a new film "F&F hollywood drift" and this "scene takes us to new york where blah blah". Kinda like how the mummy is being filmed on location and as we traverse the queue it transports us to egypt.

Starting my comment by reiterating that my stance falls in line with the above.

For all of the "how do guests know that" comments, it's worth noting that it is pretty clearly described online.

It's also worth noting that Fallon is very clearly taking you directly onto the set of the 30 Rock building & Studio 6B itself, Mummy is littered with "Hot Set" esque signage, decor, pre-show video explaining the plot, and even incorporates Reggie on the ride. I'm not here to argue that it's beautifully integrated, but I also don't think it's fair to argue it's some big secret to guests.

but is the ride part of the mummy ride still the movie set? and in the story of the ride, is Reggie dead for real or just acting?

I'm confused. Have you been on the ride? The preshow explains it's a cursed film set, and signage indicates we are playing extras. Reggie is a PA who is abducted by Imhotep and actually dies. The final scene in the attraction shows Brendan Fraser, seemingly unaware of the chaos that's unfolded elsewhere on set, getting his just desserts (or coffee, as it were) as he finishes a behind-the-scenes interview.

Because they pay a big chunk of the bills? I’m not sure about this point. We’re the minority.

Yeah. Obviously, don't be an ass about it when discussing the topic, but I don't think you can simply ignore what the general public thinks. It quite literally drives how the parks operate. And I say this as someone who typically thinks the general public's perspective has a negative impact on park decisions for my personal taste lol.

I don't know, the numerous trash cans that Disney scrambled to add to the unload area after opening would imply otherwise!

If we're actually supposed to be in Hollywood, then why are they filming the "Hollywood"-titled movie on the New York street sets? And why is there a separate Hollywood area?

I'm asking rhetorically, because really giving answers requires inventing all kinds of headcanon stuff to explain that is not necessary if the attraction is just taking place in NYC.

I rode CR during previews, stepped off white as a ghost, no skin color left in me, faced with stairs, no benches, no trash cans. Never had a ride do that to me, I hated the entire ride as it wasn't spinning or anything it just kept turning to keep me riding sidewise and my body does not like riding a roller coaster sideways!!

I'm gonna be honest - I don't think your average generic theme park tourist cares about this stuff.

They care about "big coaster go fast"

funny (to me) how when HRRR opened, I feel all I heard was 'exposed steal' it seemed to me, I think it was noise from the Disney fans or something.

When I go to the parks these days, I love seeing the visitors watching the coaster trains go bye, those that can't wait to ride, those that will never ride --- back in the day seeing the hulk and hearing it roar bye, just seems to create an excitement.

I was so happy when I saw them rerouting the walkway by the water leaving studios for I knew that were going to be creating one of those moments like when folks see the two Stardust trains come out of the station.

Ive been on the ride almost every single hhn year ( when there was no lines) and I've passed by the screens talking about the making of the movie, but I never watched any of it. I know they are talking about behind the scenes stuff but never listened.

the walk is so quick during hhn that I never read the signs or anything. I knew Reggie wants you and the mummy takes his soul. but I never knew we were the extras,
and the wiki talks about being transported to 1940s Egypt so I never really read the wiki before today.
