No major news from today's panel, but there are a few tidbits:
  • One of the ideas behind Hollywood Drift is to highlight the stunt work and behind the scenes nature of the franchise, emphasizing the practical spectacle of the car stunts.,
  • Hollywood Drift's initial concepts were formulated in 2016,
  • Multiple locations were apparently considered for the attraction,
  • USH worked with German car designers in researching the ride vehicles to make sure they were as true to appearance as they could

I wonder just how much work Universal Creative actually put into the trains and how much of that was actually done by the people at Intamin. Just a thought.

UC is VERY invovled with ride vehicle creation. They sent an airbrush artist to Germany to add the aging details to the Hogwarts Express.

They Highlighted that with Hollywood too, with them needing to be in a German auto facility to watch how paint dried to test vehicles I think.

I imagine it was a hand in hand element, but Universal was the primary group to ensure for branding and likeness purposes, that all four of the vehicles needed to be ensured that they’d be as close as they god forbid can to accuracy.

I was more surprised to hear them call out “German car manufacturers” because I can’t think of a standout German vehicle in the series. The vast majority of the hero cars are either American or Japanese.
