I have to give it to the cast, they've improved these last few days and are far more comfortable/in your face. Still at the bottom of the list, but it's not bad and shows you how good this year is overall.

I still don't think it's a HHN property/experience, but would be a hit with a broader FanFest event at UOR.

The unfortunate part about this house is - I still FULLY believe that Fallout can fit at HHN. My hope is that they sell enough merch and decide to run it back with season 2 in either 2026 or 2027.

New Vegas could make for a much more visually interesting house, and with the addition of Deathclaws and hopefully other creatures - they can definitely right the wrongs here.

X says there is now two feral ghouls added to the house but in one cast?

The issue with Orlando’s Fallout isn’t the location. It just appears to fundamentally misunderstand the ask of the house. It feels like a book report house with nothing to actually report.

IMO this is partially because the show that the house is based on appeared to fundamentally misunderstand the ask of the games. The show felt like a book report with nothing to actually report.

Eh. It’s a different conversation, but the show effectively tells an original story in the Fallout universe. That’s the whole point of the show. And, uniquely to Fallout, the violence of the game is largely dependent on individual play styles. The show follows a highly charismatic, intuitive protagonist who avoids armed conflict. The show is more talky and less shooty because of it.

It’s a downward spiral.

Fair point!!

I’m actually a fan of the idea for these video game (and other) adaptations of making an original story in the universe. Eliminates the eventual disappointment that comes with bad casting or when they inevitably get an important story beat wrong and upset hardcore fans of the game (or whatever)

I just didn’t think Amazon made a good show, even if I liked the swing.

Sorry to derail.

While I would love to see locations from the games, I was always intrigued by HHN doing an original house set in the Fallout universe - even going meta and having it take place in Universal itself.

I'm sure Universal wants to stay in business with Amazon, and warmly received first houses haven't stopped television IPs from returning again (Walking Dead and, to a lesser extent, Stranger Things). If a season two house happens, it needs to be a soundstage though.

But we still have a month to go before 2026 spec :eyes:

I just had an entire week of really great runs through this house. Everything seems more tuned to a haunted house now: it’s darker, louder and quite a bit scarier. The fog is PUMPING in certain sections, the scareactors are much more aggressive, and perhaps most importantly, you can hear those classic songs they probably paid an arm and a leg for to license.

Again, I admit my personal bias to this series. But after seeing it at least twice a week since opening, the house is in very good shape currently. Not going to convert any non-fans, but for the franchise enjoyers coming in October, I think they’re going to be pretty happy.

(The Power Armor implementation is still a dud though, and it should be the coolest part of the house)

Question, we just had a fairly bad run through this of wildly empty boo holes.

Is this common or is it worth doing another night?

Sounds like a cast change unfortunately. I’d say try again.

If you tend to stay later in the evenings, Fallout ranges from 10-25 minutes after 12:30.

I'm going to be really upset if this house takes a turn 2 weeks after we left lol

This house is at the bottom of my list. It is far from a bad house however. The quality floor is just exceedingly high this year.

The house is designed as a book report, but I've seen far worse and far less scary book reports before. Beetlejuice comes to mind immediately. The actual structure of the house is not bad at all. The scare locations are solid, the visuals are somewhat compelling, and the trigger sounds have the potential to make people jump. The parts were all there. It just needed the cast to figure out their roles and it could be remembered as a solid, if unremarkable mid-tier haunt.

Thankfully, the casts have seemingly found their stride, and things are running smooth! I've gotten a number of really solid scares in here; high energy and in-your-face performaces that really elevate the whole thing. It's cool to see! Props to the whole crew here!

There are still some nitpicks though. :nervous:

  • While the house may be using most of the TV show's potential; as a person who hasn't played the games myself, I think the overall IP certainly has more to work with than we got here. The house seemingly ends teasing a second house, and I just don't think we're gonna get that.
  • The Ghoul masks are pretty awful. Part of that character's appeal is that he's kind of a dashing, handsome rogue despite the corpse-face. The mask looks really Spirit Halloween-y and just makes him look weird and gross haha.
  • The constant insistence in the marketing that we'll get to bear witness to the strength and glory of the T-60 Power Armor ... it's all very silly. That has to be some legal stipulation with the licensing. "You have to bring up how cool and majestic that armor is! Everywhere you can!"
  • The print outside the tent definitely stretches the poster out in a way that doesn't look especially high-quality, and honestly, the artstyle makes it look like they threw the actors into a bad "Painterly"-style photoshop tool at best, or an AI program at worst. o_O
  • There were some rough voice-line sound triggers in this house. The worst one was a very awkward-sounding "They took my organs" where the emphasis was on all the wrong syllables haha. Luckily, seems like they fixed all of that recently! She sounds like a regular person now! Yippee!
Perfectly serviceable HHN house.
