I think the outdoor segments are what intrigues me the most. How are they going to do some of the scenes they described in the IGN piece when they take place in complete daylight in a desert?

Probably screens, similar to the desert-y transition room from Stranger Things 4.

i meant props/elements in the room that they'd be swinging around in, but i 100% got you.

(plot-wise: Maximus loses the gun, so you don't really see anyone in armor with weapons outside of the Yao Guai fight and the finale but semantics)

Tbh, I think a big reason why they made the armor an animatronic rather than a suit performer is specifcally because they want it to have a gun, they've hard pivoted away from giving performers guns entirely for probably obvious reasons, but we saw from last of us theyre fine having inanimate objects firing guns so long as they arent pointed at the guests directly, also such as last of us with the military vehicle

Yeah I actually mentioned that ST Season 4 transition room. I could see them using that exact transition and just going into scenes that take place indoors in the wasteland (Yao Guai cave, house where the guy turns into a Ghoul, super duper mart). It would feel weird to have no scenes in Filly or the desert part of the wasteland, but I get it.

UBE has been home to some mazes with wide open spaces so it probably makes things significantly easier if they want to go big.
