I also just went to see this movie last night and I thought the previous film, Evil Dead Rise, was better. I thought all of the characters in this one were unlikable and I was rooting for the deadites to win.

At this point, 3 “serious” movies in, I’m really starting to miss the campy fun of the original movies. They need a doofus protagonist that actually takes the fight to the deadites and somehow survives each movie.

That all being said, I feel the setting for this movie will be a very easy translation for a haunted house. It has a lot of potential for a walkthrough attraction like what HHN can do.

I have to say I completely agree. absolutely agree and I hate this modern style of evil dead. I really hate it.
the tv show was much better in that sense, some episodes were amazing. really memorable and enjoyable. funny but gory and creepy. I guess that's one good thing that terrifier has, the humor.

this house will be what will be, but I'm not too excited about it. pretty meh for me.

As pretty much everyone has said, this can definitely be a serviceable house and it could be pretty intense, too.

That said, not really a fan of the film. I feel Evil Dead is at its strongest when it's campy amongst the carnage, and having a lovable idiot as the lead doesn't hurt. EDB has neither of those, just a lotta' carnage and trauma like everybody else.

So anticipation-wise, this one will be lower for me since while yes, it could easily be an intense house, it's just not the kind of Evil Dead that I would get excited for.

Despite my thoughts on the film itself, I actually think the house could work. That said, it's still pretty low on my hype list.

The biggest thing is that the house has to embrace what the movie is. If they neuter the gore, I'm not sure it'll work.

As an aside...

I'm fine with the dead dog being there as a deadite, but I'm not okay with recreating the actual scene where the dog gets killed. That was a bit beyond my comfort level.

So... I've never seen these movies (I'm a product of the 80s and loved Chucky and Nightmare on Elm Street and all of those). Would it be worth catching the movie before this house? I don't typically do horror movies (I know, odd), but want to make sure I understand what I'm experiencing as much as possible.

The only movie necessary is Evil Dead Burn. While there is a connection to Rise, it's not integral to understanding either the movie or the house.

But I'd also recommend watching Rise because I think it's a much better film.

BUUUTTTT... if you end up liking those and want to dive into the whole franchise, Evil Dead, Evil Dead II, and the 2013 remake are all great. Army of Darkness leans way into the silly, but it's great in its own way.
