To be clear, I’ve hated every step along the way of how Universal has released tickets. And I think their lack of communication for Epic in 2026 is so bad it’s almost funny. Almost.

My take is, they don’t know yet.

Here's how I see it:
  • Epic is struggling to manage the amount of guests it currently receives on a daily basis, despite the labyrinthine and inherently limiting ticketing options that disincentivize you from visiting for more than a single day per trip
  • It sucks that people are being disincentivized from visiting for more than day per trip, especially given that it's tough to experience everything the park has to offer if more than one attraction has a bad day or if there's long stretches of inclement weather
  • Adding an Epic Universe annual pass option and/or making it easier to visit Epic with more flexible multi-day ticketing options would result in more people than the park can currently handle
  • Universal knows these restrictions frustrate people but aren't sure how to resolve the aforementioned problem given that expansions will take time

At least we have single day tickets now. Which is an easy, even if not always the best priced, solution for most visitors. So I’m not really complaining for myself. (Although obviously I am looking forward to having annual pass option eventually.)

I haven't bought any Epic tickets for my long 17 day Universal vacation in November. I agree with @Alicia, I doubt they know what they're going to do yet. But if ticket sales drop off, I'd expect them to redo their best case scenario schedule earlier than Jan. 1. Remember, they kind of screwed up the Potter opening year in Hollywood too, and had to change their ticket policy a number of times. And yes, this has been a terrible, poorly communicated, ticket policy. That they are still getting good attendance, regardless of the confusing ticket plans, not enough indoor attractions, and (as expected) lots of technical breakdowns, is probably testament to how good Epic is.
Unless they change their Epic plans, I doubt I'll go there more than one day. I love the main campus hotels/parks/Citywalk, and the leisure associated with everything in walking distance, that I'll be content to stay on the main campus without venturing out to Epic more than once....unless they change
these horrible packages and just sell multi day Epic tickets without all the strings attached. Maybe I'll drive out to WDW a few times for their Christmas events and skip Epic.

It also sucks that I come into this thread thinking there's ticket news only to find more of the same complaints that have been around for months. BlogMickey keeps talking about it for clicks, so I don't really read BlogMickey for news.

Respectfully, I think these are problems at drastically different scales. "This prolonged problem with Universal is somehow still affecting my groups' vacation plans" VS "I wasted 4 minutes scrolling on a forum I was already using". I understand not liking the BlogMickey articles, but this post is a little silly.

It's been pretty clear for a few years that Epic Universe had a capacity problem. I got a lot of heat for being concerned over that and it's been made very clear through data that the park is suffering. I was primarily concerned with what we are talking about now - lower capacity throughput requires a lower cap in attendance, resulting in the number of guests being able to visit and prolonging the sales of APs available for the park. Downtime is expected, but when an E-ticket family-thrill roller coaster can barely handle 1,000 guests an hour at peak efficiency... that's troubling.

With UOR having added 4,800 rooms since 2020, 2,000 rooms this year alone, they had to guarantee they'd fill in all of those rooms hence the scummy ticketing practice.

You could say this about anything.

“I wish Disney didn’t close the Muppets!”

“Sounds like a you problem.”

It continues to interest me what theme park fans decide is worthy of discussion and what should just get written off immediately.

Disney, ripping out your beloved theme park areas because it’s cheaper to retheme than build from scratch: “we don’t care what you think.”

Not sure how anyone would read my snarky comments on how corporations act and think I’m siding with the corporation.

Even if they could offer a 5-day, multi-park ticket that includes TWO days at Epic would interest me. There are a few new rides at the OG campuses we haven't ridden yet, plus we haven't been to Volcano Bay. One day just isn't enough at Epic.

As I've said before, I constantly check the AP hotel rates to see if there's any good deals. Also, it's a decent look into what the near term attendance projections are. Low cost, lots of available, rooms generally mean soft attendance. Anyway, there's some great hotel AP rates in August for most of the resorts. These are all 5 nights, Sunday arrival, Friday departure.
Hotel................................8/3 to 8/8.....8/10 to 8/15......8/17 to 8/22......8/24-8/29
Dockside........................$97...................97..........................97..........................97
Surfside..........................101...................97..........................92..........................97
CBBR...............................104...................107.......................100........................106 all rates all per night
Stella Nova..................116.....................117......................117.........................117
Terra Luna.....................94......................92..........................91...........................91
Aventura.........................111...................112.......................112.........................112
Portofino........................434....................391......................380.........................391
Royal Pacific..................429.................................................296.........................334
HRH..............................................................406.....................395.........................406
Sapphire.....................................................188......................179.........................188

All rates per night average in dollars.....AP: Annual Pass rates

Sapphire at $188... that is an excellent deal. Cabana Bay at $106 isn't too shabby, either.

How about RP at $296 (hotel Express for Hagrid))....Some great rates to jump on. I got some great November AP rates for Portofino a couple of months ($330 a night for 6 nights). But now the AP for those dates has nearly doubled. With the demand pricing, you have to jump on them when they first appear. The same happened with the days I booked at Portofino for June of 2026. AP rates have doubled since I booked a few months ago. ....Anyway, looking like Universal is probably soft for next month, otherwise rates wouldn't be this low over so many hotels.
