Oh I agree, I've said in the past Universal Creative has matched Imagineering in design and quality of new experiences... every other aspect of the resort experience (dining, entertainment, etc.) is beaten by Disney by a wide margin.

That's why I've been advocating for more well-rounded experiences for the entire family the past few years now, and that Epic alone isn't enough to guarantee a "MASSIVE BLOW" to Disney as every YouTube headline states lol (I know most of it is exaggeration to grab people's attention... but there are a few that are taking it way too seriously).

I can't agree with you more on this. I personally believe their lack of transparency regarding annual passes (when they will be available, etc.) is a tad disheartening as a Universal fan. It it very reminiscent of SWGE's DL opening of blocking out APs in favor of an excel spreadsheet that believes that all those APs will purchase a premium priced 1-day ticket (at least Disney gave out a blockout calendar and date as to when the undesirables can return).

Feel free to disagree, but I've always believed the best approach would have been to clearly state that APs will not be allowed May-July, and to stay tuned to potential AP sales in early Fall with an temporary AP reservation system to prevent overcrowding on those first few days APs are active (or AP access after x PM for certain tiers, etc.). I would have also sold 1-day tickets first for everybody, with a "so good to be true" 3-park ticket deal that included all the dry parks at a great price point.

I hope my statement above ends up false. Just a tad annoyed at their approach to this. I suckered up to a 1-day ticket for opening day, but as avid as a fan I am, I don't intend to go again until I am allowed to upgrade my AP. I live only 7 minutes away from Epic, so Universal is missing out on all that sweet f&B spend I end up giving to the mouse.

[Just to clarify, this wasn't meant to be a strictly Disney v. Uni comparison. In fact, I maintain IoA was the best Orlando park in the 2000s in any category. The problem is the same one everything in Orlando that competes with Disney faces. Best example: Cake Shoppe, a chain restaurant associated with WDW only because the WDW outlet is the only one in the southeast, can get $26 for a slice of cake. World-famous Carlo's Bakery in Florida Mall gets half that for a slice of its iconic rainbow cake (and I can personally verify it tastes as good as it looks). Disney fans will pay a ridiculous premium for anything, just because it's Disney. If Carlo's was on the Boardwalk or in Disney Springs, that slice would be north of $20.

This also illustrates why online ratings aren't the best gauge. A large percentage of Orlando visitors will never set foot in Universal, no matter how good it is, simply because it isn't Disney. So their opinions aren't reflected.]

I do think by waiting a very long time to release single day tickets for the general public, they are building up a lot of excitement and potential compulsive buying. It’s getting everybody, including everyone on here, talking about it. So when they do open up tickets, people will bum rush to get them.

Agreed, as it's been mentioned by others, there are folks out there who're pretty much waiting for single day tickets to be released to the general public. If that happens, vacations are bought, just like that. But if not, well there's a very good chance those vacations are not getting bought.

Exactly. I want to be able to use 5 day package the way I want to (i.e. 5 days, 3 parks, park 2 park).

Or they'd already booked somewhere else. The only people who haven't planned their vacation by this point is locals, and the majority of those are AP holders (I worked in travel. January was peak time for booking summer/fall vacations)

Multi-day tickets have been on sale since October; by now they have a good idea of what demand is shaping up to be.

Plenty of examples already over the last page or so, but it only represents people who are willing to get (or "put up with") purchasing a 3-day ticket for 1 day at Epic. There's a whole subset of people who don't want the non-Epic fluff that haven't made any purchases but are open to buying multi-day Epic tickets or multiple 1-day tickets, they're just not available yet.

While I'm sure they could have gleaned some information from AP sales I don't think there's enough information gathered to tell the full story regarding demand.

The freedom pass still requires mult dat tickers , so it’s not really a single day offer.

I just want a 2 day tickets that’s all. I have no need for a 3 day. The weekend is 2 days long…

You'd think Universal would have learned their lesson by the way they botched up the opening of Potter in Hollywood Studios.....If you don't learn from history, you're doomed to repeat it...................... 'Keep it simple, stupid'......Market new park. Sell tickets to new park. Customers attend new park.

You can’t buy a 1 day ticket? I thought I read on their website that you can.

And most Universal guests plan their trips out three months before visit.

WDW, with their coming new night parade, and 2 new shows at DHS, are the types of stuff that excite their fans. Epic won't hurt them....for now...And this confusing ticket situation isn't a plus for Universal/Epic.

agreed, it took me a bit to fully understand their "package"...decided to just stand pat and wait for tickets as we aren't planning to go until early next year.

They realllyyyyyyyyyy want those expanded vacations out of the gate. Risky strategy. Show people your best park and they will want more.
