I don't think Universal is looking at more hotel rooms in the foreseeable future.

Just curious...I'm looking at hotel rooms on Universals web site in August with an AP rate.....Lots of room types available..
.most of the hotels with AP rates available.

I'm seeing weeks where Dockside and CBBR are under $100 a night AP, and Stella and Luna under $125 a night AP....
Are these BTTF rates ;) :D....

This may be a really good time to visit Universal if someone is on a tight budget. End of July ain't too bad either for AP holders..

I don’t think there’s some innate desire for outdoor attractions specifically, but rather most mid to high thrill rides tend to be outdoors because of mechanical/space/budget constraints, so there’s an expectation that outdoor=thrill.

I’ve never heard a single person once say they wanted more outdoor rides, only that they wanted more thrill rides if anything. The only time I’ve ever heard the outdoor sentiment is regarding the idea of indoor water parks (yes I’m still disappointed the Great Wolf development never happened), and I still don’t entirely agree that it’s not a winning idea down here. Even if a small group of people have said they wanted more outdoor attractions specifically, they would also be the first to grouse about them not being available and there being not enough to do during inclement weather.

I don’t think there’s some innate desire for outdoor attractions specifically, but rather most mid to high thrill rides tend to be outdoors because of mechanical/space/budget constraints, so there’s an expectation that outdoor=thrill. Epic objectively needs more “indoor” attraction capacity, and at least one or two should probably be higher thrill than most covered flats would be, something more along the lines of Mummy or Gringotts.

IDK, if Uni/Epic was going to do more indoor attractions, I wish at least one of them was more classic/family (not kiddie - whole family) style and less outright thrill. Rides can be engaging and fun and funny and spooky and all the things while still being ok for folks with motion ick.

And I know motion sensitivity is super variable from person to person, but I think overall Universal is more challenging for people here. At least, it can be for me/my fam. If they're going to expand, I'd really love for them to expand in a way that most folks can enjoy.

This is the most important part of this story:

What they're saying:
"It doesn't look like it's going to be a ride or show," Seth Kubersky, from TheUnofficialGuides.com, said. "Most likely, it is a support structure for special events."

Kind of what we've been speculating.

Can't remember which Comcast report it was, but they had previously mentioned that the resort was capable of supporting 14,000 onsite hotel rooms.

I don't expect a new resort hotel for the next few years, but I do hope that whenever the time comes to consider one again, it's an actual resort capable of competing against Wilderness Lodge, Polynesian, Animal Kingdom, Portofino Bay, Royal Pacific, etc. The newer resorts have been fine, but they're basic in offerings. Give us more exotic locales.

Yes, I recall that...But times have changed. For a number of reasons, some of which I don't want to discuss, plus economic and theme park price issues., those expected theme park tourists aren't coming to Orlando in the numbers they envisioned, especially international tourists. I'm guessing, outside of HHN, they're having some difficulty filling what they have now that the opening weeks are behind them.

If you're a coaster person, Mummy doesn't tank high on thrills. Its a small, medium coaster
