Some food for though: If Disney is going to announce an animation courtyard replacement either during the week of EU debuting it's going to be for an existing IP and not something up and coming. If Zootopia has already been ruled out, in my mind the IP for AC will be Moana. The first movie is among the most watched things on D+ and the sequel regardless of what people though still made a boatload (pun intended) of money.

It could explain why the ride for MK was pulled at the last minute. Priorities were shifted to make it a full land and not an expansion to AL. It would also present the opportunity to bring the Shanghai pirates ride system to WDW and give DHS its much needed water/boat ride.

I personally would keep Moana at MK and put Cars at DHS with only 1/2 of the RoA removed for Villains.

But yes, you are probably right. Zootopia at DHS would be my hope ( to avoid it at DAK or MK) but will be odd to have 3 trackless similar rides at the same park.

My only hope (outlined):
2024 - Lightning McQueen's Racing Academy show behind Rockin' Rollercoaster is closed to make way for new Villain's Unfairly Ever After show
2025 - MuppetVision is closed to make way for new Monster's Inc land but Disney releases statement saying they're trying to think of a way "to preserve it" while also announcing that the Muppets will move down the boulevard to take over for Aerosmith on the Rockin' Rollercoaster
2025 - Disney announces Beyond Thunder Mountain plans at Magic Kingdom for an entirely new VILLAIN land
---
2026 - Muppet overlay of Rockin' Rollercoaster opens
2028 - Monster's Inc. Land in Hollywood Studios opens
2030 - Villains Land in Magic Kingdom opens while simultaneously announcing that the SHOW in Hollywood Studios is now going to move parks to be IN this new Land and that MUPPETVISION IS COMING BACK TO HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS AND WILL TAKE OVER THAT SAME THEATER BEHIND ROCKIN' ROLLERCOASTER GIVING US A NEW MUPPET CORNER OF THE PARK
2032 - Villain's Unfaily Ever After Show opens in Villains Land in Magic Kingdom and Muppetvision 2.0 (same film/updated tech) opens at Hollywood Studios after a 7 year hiatus and Disney redeems itself and everyone loves them again

For Muppetvision returning, I wouldn't be surprised if they mix that with a Tower of Terror Muppets overlay to soften the blow.

If that happens then the Muppets officially have 2 rides that are significantly more thrilling and not for all ages then Fast & Furious does in Orlando.

This is a funny take considering they barely wanted Muppets for RNRC.

If there's one thing Disney like less than Muppets, it's paying for an external IP.

The concept art has changed slightly, similar to how Tropical Americas did. Looks like they widened the entry just a bit, the Missy Piggy fountain base seems to be staying, and a play area is visible adjacent to the ride facade.

I wish they can release a more realistic piece of art showing the massive showbuilding.

My guess is more detailed concept art of the land including the theater show going into where Muppets was will be showed off at Destination D23 2025.

Another change: the theater venue is now called the Glob (a play on the Globe) instead of the Monstro.

Play area is a welcome addition, though it looks pretty small and underwhelming in the concept art. Most of my strongest memories as a kid at MGM are of the HISTK playground, the park really needs something like that again.

Agree - I welcome well themed play areas in the parks, but they need to be themed ala Dumbo Circus, Camp Jurassic, Viking Training Camp, etc. Not a fan of the play areas they've added to Epcot (the Mission Space one is fine, but there should be a well-themed one at either the Land or Imagination pavilion).

TSL not having a play area similar to Shrunk the Kids is bizarre

Yuck.

Not a fan of "preserving" it in a way that allows only people who have purchased multi-thousand dollar tech to enjoy.

My guess is VR is the type of thing that will get more accessible as the tech matures. But this is better than not preserving MV3D at all.

You can get a Meta Quest 3 for $269 right now. Which is still more than I'd pay for it given where the ecosystem is right now, but a far cry from "thousands of dollars".

Given that Muppet*Vision was a true 360° immersive experience, I do think that VR is the only way to truly 'preserve' it for home audiences. Just putting a video version on Disney+ wouldn't cut it, because to get the true experience you need things like the spatial relation between Fozzie leaning out of the screen to talk to the Statler and Waldorf animatronics, or the Swedish Chef firing the cannon clear across the theater. Even a 360° video displayed on a 2D screen wouldn't capture that stuff, nor would porting just the screen content over to a 3D TV (a technology which does cost thousands of dollars anymore). Short of rebuilding the theater, VR is the least compromised possible format to present it in.

There's no perfect solution other than rebuilding the show in another venue.

I'm not against a VR version in addition to other things, specifically a 3D Blu-ray. If I'm not going to be able to see it in person ever again, I want to physically own a version.
