Totally agree. If a decent investor bought them and would keep an early Eisner years level of capital improvements in the park, instead of sucking most of the profits out, a new Disney parks renaissance could occur. Seems like Disney corp just uses the USA parks as a cash cow for their other stuff. Disney USA theme parks could be so much more. They have a great brand name at this point in time and a fantastic Marketing department. But you can live off of your rep for only so long.

I think they'll be able to live off their rep for a loooooooooooong time. What I find amazing is that I never really see Mickey Mouse in the media, my niece watched a few shows with Mickey Mouse but he was never her favourite by a long shot but when she went to Disneyland Paris, she completely lost it to see Mickey. I don't want to use the word magical but there is certainly something about Mickey Mouse.

No doubt. The branding is very strong. If it wasn't, they would have been loosing attendance when they let the parks stagnate. But things change quicker now than they used to. To stay on top you need to take care of business.

AND WORKING OVER TIME

I think Disney has enough reputation to work off of for years, but that's the issue I always get to. Yes, Disney can make lots of mistakes and be ok but how is that ok at all? Thats how we get to the Pressler/Harris years of Disneyland where maintenance was so cut back two people DIED from it. That's why I hound Disney's ass all the time, they're in a precarious position now by raising prices and reducing staffing. They're banking on the retired set taking kids and grandkids down to Disney more but they are just waiting and taking their time. A decade of no new additions, letting attractions waste away as you do your third update to Pirates and HM, and keep building DVC hurts. Sure, they're building now for 2016-2020, but that's ignoring a decade of no additions. It's the same with Universal too, except they've been building strong five years before Disney got the swing into things.

I think another part of the problem is how long it takes them to build something. They're taking about twice as long as Universal but the results aren't anything groundbreaking.

It is very sad that Disney is throwing so much money at WDW all at once like this. It would have been so much more compelling had they started some of these changes back in 2005. As is, it is a big friggin blur to me. So much it is dumbfounding, un-grasp-able.

You would have thought that would be the best course of action...build stuff every 2 years like a normal theme park...but Disney has been sleeping for a while

You guys are just h8ers! Disney does exactly what they should do at WDW. Build one new ride for each new generation. WDW builds one new ride every twenty years like clockwork.

Exactly. Just like Iger finally OK'd these huge expansions. But he's retiring in a year or so and the bill will be on the future CEO.

Oh gosh. You're exaggerating but they really are going to clock in at the 10+ year mark for DHS by the next time the Toy Story ride opens and DAK for Pandora compared to Everest's open.

This is why they should never build a 5th gate.
