I don’t know the layout of this park as well as others (backstage as well as onstage) but I’m shocked they haven’t, for lack of a better phrase, Epcot’d this park and focus on food and festivals a bit more. It’s a great park to hang in and can easily celebrate the cuisine that all the countries and cultures represented here.

I 100% agree with you, this park deserves better use. There are a lot of areas that are unfortunately underutilized such as Flame Tree's beautiful outdoor seating (only busy at lunch) and Pizzafari only open for lunch. Harambe Market is ideal for a rotating selection of menu items (prior to being overtaken by burgers & chicken tenders). Tiffin's is not driving much interest either.

The park has very little to convince folks to stay for an entire day, let alone for multiple visits. Once Tropical Americas opens, it should help a bit (though the park would still need a nighttime show to keep guests at night).

I'd like for them to try a different festival, not just food, but entertainment and other experiences.

Idk what kind of space they have, but closing Dinosaur is so obviously a mistake. They should’ve given it a 2.0, leveled Dinoland and built a high budget land focusing on the animal kingdom of the ancient past, and just built Encanto somewhere else. A lengthy transformation of one of the parks only rides into a clone of a 30 year old ride from across the country is a lateral move at best.

There’s a world where this is my favorite park on Earth, but it’s been so poorly managed for years… sucks.

It's already a clone of a 30-year-old ride from across the country. Now, hopefully, it'll actually be a good clone of that excellent ride from across the country.

The way I was hitting up those booths on my last visit, you couldn't tell me there wasn't a festival. :lmao:

The Stuffed Pancake Sandwich. The Colombian-Style Hot Dog. The Pulled Pork Cheese Arepa. The POG Juice-based drinks. I wanna go back just to eat and drink.

Best thing about Animal Kingdom in my personal opinion is that it's the Orlando park with the most shade! Plus, Pandora, obviously!

Best thing of AK is Kali River rapids. It teaches us that deforestation results in large mudslides that are extremely fun.... this ride is weird.

In its defense, it was severely budget-cut.

And then reimagined after that. I think that it supports the notion that people don't really care about the theme as long as the ride is good. If they polled the general public about what the ride was about, I'd guess that most would guess "getting wet", "Did it have a theme?", or a smaller percentage guessing "Something bad about trees".

I think it's the worst water raft ride I've ever been on at any park. And I've rode a lot of them over the years.

It's weird as it should really start the opposite way.

Currently, it's a climatic lift hill up to a very dramatic scene with great (at one point) effects and down a waterfall... after that it's a small rapids (if that) section and a very slow crawl to the station.

Central Florida Water Rapids Rankings:
  1. Popeye's
  2. Infinity Falls
  3. Congo River Rapids at BGT
  4. Kali

I dunno, I haven't been on it in many years, but I recall Congo being very pedestrian. Kali is at least gorgeous. Otherwise, yeah, Popeye is the king, with Infinity Falls right behind.

One of these days I'd love for them to plus Kali, but there's only so much you can do when the ride length is that short.

The original Kali was slightly better. When they redid it a decade or so ago, it was a downgrade. .....And it may well be the least wet possible on a water raft ride.

Kali would be just fine... if the park had another 4 - 5 rides. Currently, it just has to shoulder too much weight as a park headliner.

Yeah, it's the Villain Con problem. If Kali was a C ticket in an Asia area with six rides, I don't think anyone would mind its brevity or lack of more ambitious show set. Instead, it's one of two rides and is forced to punch above its weight as a D ticket, a distinction it can't really justify beyond its queue.

Comparing Kali to VillainCon is just mean!

But the point is correct.
