That was extremely quick for a new ride. Probably the quickest removal of Lightning Lane ever if I'm thinking about it.

It's probably because it's off season for water rides, but I am still surprised.

Pretty sure Runaway Railway had a quicker removal of VQ, but yeah, this was quick.

Runaway Railway: January 27, 2023 to February 22, 2023 (26 Days)
Tiana's Bayou: November 15, 2024 to December 10, 2024 (25 Days)

It's a dead heat, apparently.

Probably because Disneyland spent the money to upgrade their ride system while WDW didn't.

proud of disneyland - they finally have a version of an attraction with more uptime than one of their sibling resorts.

I've heard a bit part of WDW's going down is the lap bars... which, AFAIK, Disneyland's doesn't have.

Now that I have a little more time to post, I finally got to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure on the 11th. Man that ride needs to be renamed the McDonald’s ice cream machine because this dang ride was almost always broken. Tried twice to ride it earlier in the day and it was down. Waited 45 minutes in line and then they evacuated the line from it being down. Finally rode it towards the end of the night and didn’t have to wait long. Thank you single rider. Oh, and speaking of single rider….

I really liked how they built a new hallway specifically for single riders. It's very nifty the way they laid it out. They built a ramp that cuts up to the exit ramp and then they built a small passage that takes you right over the bridge where it normally. Big improvement of line management there.

Although I have already made up my mind from the POV, now that I actually went on it, I will go over what I liked and then didn't like. Okay, now for the good:

-Like the new single rider queue
-Animatronics are really good. When they're working (Final Tiana at the finale looked like they put something in her beignets). Though I think they move too much like they've had a little too much of that special spice in whatever they had. I feel like the wailing movement was just to show "Yo! These things can MOVE!"
-Really liked how they covered up the splashdown of the first drop with a tunnel. This keeps the lightbleed out.
-I like how the the bayou scene has more walls and more backgrounds. One of the things I didn't like about our version of Splash was how there were literally no backgrounds and the lighting didn't feel natural.
-Looks fantastic at night (Which is when I got to ride!)

Okay now the bad:
-The story (Or lack thereof) was awful. There was no conflict, no tension over the final drop, no interesting action.
-It was very discouraging to see so many spaces that were once occupied by a plethora of AAs replaced with literally nothing or just a screen. It made the ride feel even more lacking. They should've just retold the story of the PatF and have Facilier at the end.
-I understand the Marc Davis AAs are old af but you really couldn't refurb them and reincorporate (At least some of them) into ride? There is a lot of sentimental value behind those AAs with Marc Davis being behind them and they could've easily fit in the ride. You seriously had to get rid of ALL of them?? They could've fit in those empty spaces well.
-The mountain now looks smaller with the redo. Don't like this.
-Songs are fine....I just don't think they're memorable.
-IDK what the heck happened but this thing keeps. Breaking. Down. All. The. TIME. Was Rise's reliability even this bad when it opened??

As I already mentioned, although there are some good things about this ride, but I think this is an overall downgrade. They really needed to go all-in on this concept but they didn't. If they had a good story (Just retell the movie), reincorporate a lot of the Marc Davis AAs, actually have Faciulier in the ride, have a tone of dread going over the drop, and keep the name Splash Mountain but with the subtitle of Tiana's Bayous Adventure, I can guarantee you would win a lot more of the SM apologists over. Sigh.

Well, I guess I better focus on the few good things I like about this ride because now we're stuck with this for the next thrirty years until the get the funding to do it right this time.

I went on it last night and it’s quite good. scenes are packed with higher quality figures than existed previously, lighting is good and the story is perfectly fine.

downtime is a problem, but I’m skeptical that it’s any more of a problem than splash (which was down quite a bit!) I’m not a big PATF fan, but the overlay works better than I thought it would.

I don’t think “it’s fun” is a band-aid for all problems … but it is quite fun. good energy really propels the whole experience and I think, overall, the ride is an improvement on what replaced it.

So was at Disneyland last weekend and then yesterday. Its funny the difference one week can make. Last week was packed but the rides lines were normal besides HMH and Small World which are always higher during these days.

Yesterday I did not rope drop it so we could sleep in but got into Disneyland by 9 AM and even then many rides were getting lines and used LL to get on Big Thunder and most of the day after was using LL or watching a show like Tiki room or the Dapper dans

I got the Dinning package for the parade it costs more then the Fantasmic meal packages (or most of them) and they are mostly sold out from what I can tell. But the meal you get is good and the seats are really great and seems like one of the best places to view the parade. So if you can afford it and they have seat available then the Parade dining I'd say is worth it.

Also rides. I watch a good amount of live streams and go a lot to the parks. Its just insane how often rides go down. Its been talked about but its just insane how often things are going down. Tia's ride being a great example.....I just don't get it you spend all this money and can't get the ride to stay open all day to save your life, unlike other rides this ride was done by teams post Covid.....this is there baby not something some else made and they don't know all the secrets about which can be used as the reason of excuse why other attraction go down. I really don't get how Disney can spend all this money and not be able to run a log ride while Japan can open just as new tech rides and not have these issues. Its because of money thats for sure they need more maintenance staff or to hire back some of the people who used to make the park run like butter but they are gone to better paying jobs so Disney would have to....pay them more to come back and they wont they will buy the best lawyers but when it comes to maintaining the US parks...no thanks can't invest in that

Also a few people online will say the new verion of Spash is better...I've yet to hear anyone talk about it highly...its always its good but not sure if its an improvement along with many avoiding it for being too wet for the winter....which yes they used to have a winter mode on splash and you did not get that wet....this mode feels like summer where its an insane amount of water getting in the boat.

Outside the rides of course Disneyland the parks are amazing to look at right now, the small world area is a cant miss sight at nighttime and at DCA carsland is also just a joy to walk through at night.
Also why Disneyland is packed DCA still has some times when many rides are walk ons or close to it.

Also For some reason Disney has holiday shows at DCA not on the app but on the website. So not sure why you would not put the shows on the map which they have done before but luckily I know about these extra shows and enjoyed a few of them in Hollywood land and then went on a few rides with LL or walked on like Mermaid

So warning Disneyland is now packed, the LA schools are out and parks are now going to be packed until after the first of the year

Sadly, the new Disneyland Haunted Mansion gift shop is an astonishing failure of planning, architecture, construction, and theme park environmental design. It is not open yet and it is understood that more "work" will be done but that is likely the placement of props around the building ("set dressing" has already begun). The structure itself is in a completed state. I wanted to detail a few -- but not all -- of the known issues.

This set of images shows several, as follows:

1. WOOD SIDING REPEAT VISIBLE: The artificial wood siding has a wood grain pattern to it and no effort was made to hide the "repeat." As anyone who has installed floor tiles with a pattern (e.g., floor tiles simulating natural textures usually have a dozen or so different patterns within the boxes) knows to stagger and vary the placement to hide the repeated pattern. This image shows two boards directly above and below each other with the repeat pointed out with lines. This is a stunning level of ineptitude in installation and project management. A typical homeowner doing a DIY project would notice and avoid this.

2. EXIT AREA: As you can see in the image, the ugly back-of-house utilities of the gift shop are located right at the attraction exit. Clearly a gate/wall will be installed (the white vertical board on the back wall of the gift shop shows where this gate/wall will be located). But it will need to be a massive 8-foot tall gate to come close to hiding most of these unattractive elements and having a service gate like that be the first thing encountered at the attraction exit is bad enough. But as shown, it will not hide all the functional parts located back there including a cheap service light and a metal (rather than historic, and easily ordered wood) vent, among others.

3. FRONT GAP AT GROUND: The image of the front of the building shows the way the building meets the ground, with a gap and flashing. This is how modern -- not very expensive -- homes are built. And this contributes to the "cheap shed dropped into place" look. The structure is not "grounded" to the earth with a stone foundation. Such a foundation would have been more historic/thematic, and incorporating a second wall material would have added architectural interest, reduced the structure's visible scale, and allowed a material tie-in to the natural materials found at Fowler's Harbor across the walkway and Bayou Country.

4. FRONT PLASTIC BOXES AND RECESSED LIGHTS: The front view also shows some -- but not all -- of the various plastic boxes, junction boxes, and recessed lights highly visible at the front of the structure. All of these detract from the perceived quality and historic theming. This is just a lack of planning and attention to detail and lowering of standards.

5. BARN DOOR FRAME GAP: This image shows a minor detail where the frame around the barn door doesn't connect to the wall behind it -- there's a gap. Though a small detail, this showcases the sloppy construction. NO quality architect or builder would allow a gap behind a trim element like this as water would penetrate behind it. It's just an example of how poorly this building is detailed and built.

That exit angle is shocking. Totally unacceptable for that to be in view, even temporarily.

This whole part of the Mansion project feels unforgivably low-rent.

Someone found you can buy this exact building at like Home Depot

Yeah, I don’t get his the Q turned out so well but this seems to just be run by corporate or something

I’m just hoping they can do as much as they can to it look just better then it does now

It will never look how fans want but hope they at least try

The Haunted Mansion gift shop is everything wrong with modern Imagineering output, IMO.

I went on Indiana Jones last night and the full queue video is back, so that's nice. The ride is basically the best it's ever been at this point.

I kind of feel bad for being quite nit-picky of Disney lately but the scenic painting on the Irrawaddy Temple is not great for me. It's really is jarring next to the stone face and steps in terms of being so dark and "cool" (cool black with green). It almost has an industrial factory soot look. Whereas the surrounding stone is both lighter and warmer (brown). The result is it's not complementary or convincing.

Also, Disney has been doing some nice simulation of moss lately in concrete (e.g., new walkways in MK Adventureland) and this would have been a great place to bring that effect in to a vertical element.

The good thing is it's never too late to improve scenic painting.

Fresh baked video about Tia's Q situation

Just a good reference video if you want to know about how long it will take you to get through the Q at different parts of the day
