Remember: this is not the 30s Monster, it’s the modern day DU Monster.

And to think folks were jumping on the "merch is mid" take so early.

Yeah, they gotta try again on the Frankenstein's Monster mask. Everything else on the Monster meet and greet front looks pretty good to great, IMO.

i think brian was primarily responding to evan, who asked why they didn’t just use the version you see in hollywood.

Although to be fair... the only reason why he doesn't look like Hollywood's is because he's currently in the queue of Frankenstein Manor

.....maybe this version that is doing photo-ops is one of Victoria's failures at recreating the original..

I thought this could be in story as well like one of the ones she effed up? Because they definitely need to go back to the drawing board on that one if not, quick!

I’ll go ahead and drop some thoughts:

The entrance to the land is great, along with the street entertainment.

You can definitely tell that the Werewolf Coaster was a later addition. It really throws off the scale of the Manor. It also covers up the Burning Blade. I imagine when they initially designed this land with the theater show, the Burning Blade was probably a secondary weenie to the Manor, meant to be seen off in the distance. Unfortunately that is not the case, you basically have to walk around the coaster to see it.

The coaster ride experience is akin to something out of SeaWorld, exposed speakers on black sticks, static werewolf figures, and a comically bad finale scene (it might fit the “theme” like how Dinorama did) from the top of the coaster you also see the white roof and A/C of the burning blade

Monsters Unchained was good. Loved the AA’s. The pre-show is stunning. Most of the animatronics worked during our ride-through. The storyline is a little bit over the top for what it needs to be, but the ride being good makes up for it. They really tried hard to force this story into the queue with tons of posters and signage. It’s a solid attraction but it’s no Rise of The Resistance. It is definitely the most epic showcase of animatronics in Orlando; these things are so lifelike and move incredibly fast

Monsters was my most anticipated land before going into the park, and I hate to say that it definitely ranked at the bottom after experiencing everything. I’m not positive on the actual size of the land, but it felt the smallest

It really seems like losing the show was a bad idea for this land. Given the raves of the other 2 shows I’m really sad already we’ve lost it.

The trouble with a third major Epic show is that Universal has a really bad track record supporting theater shows. In a few years, one of the three shows would probably be cut, due to live entertainment cost and lack of a daily full theater. Monsters would have probably been the weakest of the three with the GP, so it probably wouldn't have been around very long. That's, sadly, Universal's MO, so a small coaster is probably better than an empty space. Can Epic support three major live entertainment shows in large theaters. I doubt it, and I'd bet Universal thought the same. ....I'm a big time supporter of live entertainment theater shows, but I'm also a realist.

One the one had that's true. On the other there's several smaller-scale shows throughout Celestial Park that can be entertaining too. Together with the walk-around characters in a couple of the other lands (including Ygor in DU) the park as a whole may have tipped into being too show-heavy. Could be one factor into why it didn't come to fruition.

The coaster does kind of make finding the Tavern harder to find, but it equally now is a reward if one explores the land a bit. Selfishly, if that also means less people there and I get to enjoy a shorter line then all the better. :D
