Animatronics are temperamental creatures. If you want to enjoy them, you need to understand their nature....Sometimes, they just don't want to perform for humans. ;)

The Shaman is constantly taken out of commission for minor refurbs throughout the year.

So Disney has a decent track record on maintaining that animatronic at least.
