When Disney presented the Magic Kingdom Cars attraction, for whatever people's response was about losing the Rivers of America and putting "cars with eyeballs" in Frontierland, the ambition of the attraction was undeniable. Look at the Cars up high on that mountain and imagine careening down the sides of the peak to get to the level we see down below, in the foreground!
So it's interesting to see the real-world dirt-track mockups they are creating where the elevation changes are significantly less dramatic. (As far as the terrain, the mockups look more similar to Casey Jr. Circus Train than the concept art.)
How will they reconcile promise, vision, expectations, and reality? Will they still build a landmark mountain if all they need is a hilly Tomorrowland Speedway? And if so, I wonder if that will change all the anticipated thematic and sightline impacts -- for better or worse -- in Frontierland.
