Glad to hear they are upgrading. Maybe next they'll put another pool in to handle the 3,000 rooms they added with the towers...

(This was our home resort, but after the towers were built the pools and the lazy river are just too damn crowded.)

Funny you said that. Our granddaughters 'absolutely loved' the formal Italian pool & gardens and the Family pool at Portofino. Often, we were the only ones in the formal pool, which was right outside of our Villa room patio. Nine or ten guests in the pool at most. Family pool always had a decent crowd, but not to the point of overcrowding. The girls spent many hours in the pool every day. When we went to Cabana, they used the pool the first three days, but never again for the rest of the vacation. They said it was too crowded, like the WDW pools two years before. Portofino 'spoiled' them. :lmao: :D But, we left them in the room and went to the Cabana pool ourselves. The allure of the Bar is too hard to ignore.

Yeah, holing down in Hideaway is great. It was just better when it wasn't the only option. Sitting at a table while the kid did the lazy river was the best, but you have to "rope drop" that these days, which is dumb.

One of my weird traditions is that I always need to head down to the Hideaway 1 night and get nachos. It's been a way of life since 2016 lol

Actually it was the other pools' bar....but yes, Hideaway gets pretty busy and that smaller pool is always super packed with guests. I don't believe we ever saw the hot tub empty at that end of the park. ....I greatly prefer the larger pool, though it's nearly always pretty busy too. Lots of rooms, and lots of kids at Cabana.....The girls really loved the suite room configuration.

The Atomic Tonic! Love the table space over there. Its a shame they turned off the waterfalls.

Generally, what pool we use has more to do with the room location. If we have a single room, we'll gravitate to the smaller pool next to the lazy river. If we book an exterior suite, it'll be the larger pool, which we prefer. Sometimes we'll venture to the opposite pool, but not often. We love Hideaway & Atomic Tonic equally, and you can't beat the $13.95 liquor drinks with the Cabana Bay souvenir cup that lasts forever.

Use it while you can - we thought we had a “forever” deal with the plastic cups at RPR but they stopped honoring it the last few trips…

Last week in October changed a couple of days ago. Some hotel prices dropped. We actually changed our dates due to that Our concrete week is Nov. 1-7 since a year ago I got Royal Pacific for $330 night. We were booked into the start of Christmas weekend at Dockside since Cabana was real high. Cabana dropped prices now....so instead of rebooking the week after RP, we decided to do the last week in October instead of Holiday again and do a day at HHN which we haven't done for 7 or 8 years. Just for a change in pace.

Interesting! When I booked, it was initially $215 per night over Labor Day weekend.

It dropped to $185 so I rebooked at that price - it hasn't dipped below $200 since lol

It's still showing $208 for my dates in September. I think when I last got it adjusted it was $168. Not expecting it to decrease any more but fingers are crossed!

Just insane value at play here. You can’t find a decent hotel in a 20-mile radius for less than $300 a night, and this one’s coming in at half that with free park transportation and early access. When you consider what Disney and Epic are charging for extra hours events, these rooms may as well be close to free.

I have a coworker that will only stay at WDW (Boardwalk), for $500+ per night. Crazy. Tried to tell her to try RPR, HRH, or PB, no luck. The value (including express!) is insane. We are usually Sapphire Falls and if you have flexible dates, can find it for $150-170 (APH rate). I just saw CBBR for $128 the same days we're at SF in a couple of weeks!
