have they elaborated on the logic of that? because i don’t see it.

Yeah, that, bluntly, doesn't make any sense. Josh can't unilaterally make huge announcements like that without Iger's go-ahead.

I think the logic they might have been operating on was this (sorry if this is a stretch): a lot of fans did not have a good perception of Disney management after D23 2022. Josh knew a lot of fans were pining for new things for the parks after COVID. So he went all out at D23 2024 with the slate we got, which impressed Iger with how he turned around fan perceptions with things like the door coaster and Villains land. (the fans have wanted these for years)

Now that I think about it, either these Disney channels were saying that for clicks or they have no idea how the business is really run.

I understand these people are exceptions ambitious and it would be naive of me to expect otherwise, but I kind of like Josh as head of parks. Feel like he’s been a good advocate for the parks with the Bobs and I doubt that continues to the same degree if he’s CEO.

I like D'Amaro as CEO as he will more than likely want to see his announced park projects completed. A new CEO could potentially risk all of the announced (and soon to be approved) projects in favor of something else. With Disney supercharging the parks business with a 10 year plan, they likely have a rough idea of what the latter half contains... and a new CEO could threaten all of that.

I say that as a park fan, unsure how he fits elsewhere in the company.

What a lot of fans forget is that Iger prioritized spending towards Disney+ that ultimately resulted in the parks being used as the fundraiser, but didn't receive anything else beyond what was approved already. Once they realized Disney+ wasn't doing as great, they kept their pocketbooks close to their chest until Disney+ showed a positive result. When the parks division did receive funds, they were used for additional cruise ships and DVC expansion... projects that have a direct revenue model. That's why the previous D23s before last year were complete duds. Everything was announced, and nothing else was being greenlit due to lack of funds. The parks were doing very well financially during the travel bounceback post-Covid, but now we're seeing softening.

There should be only one, 株式会社オリエンタルランド.
Yumiko Takano, who will be the new CEO will be great in leading all Disney theme parks and the company going forward. It's that or another weatherman who doesn't reinvent Disney like Eisner did but buys externa properties that are already successful and slap a Disney sticker on it.

Josh D'maro is now the confirmed choice for the company.

I don't agree with every change, but it's at least steered away from the Chapek era.

I'm kind of confused by the response

Josh D'maro is the current parks leader....and people are upset by pricing, the live entertainment going away and what not

So why now will things improve? Just curious why some think we will get better from Josh then Iger when it seems like both are on the same page

The best I can say is that D'Amaro is more intimately familiar with the parks and has long advocated them while Iger 2.0 was CEO. I don't know if it matters who's the CEO; the (justified) complaints people have about the parks are going to be part and parcel of any CEO's strategy for the time being.

CMs praise him for being good towards employees, so that’s a green flag for me. He also has dragged a ton of new projects into approval. I’m not totally in love with the guy but I can’t say he’s been all bad.

My opinion is that both are decent choices. At least Josh has a good park working knowledge and the creative side
is answered with Dana Walden. Disney is never going to be a super pro guest company, that hasn't been part
of i's adrenaline for a longtime. But, with that in mind, this is probably the best happenstance. And surely, I wouldn't
want a outsider being brought in. That learning curve could be disastrous to the theme park side. There's not many
in the corporate world that understands, or is capable of learning, the theme park industry.
I give this choice a thumbs up, for what it's worth.

Finally getting Iger out of the company is the only thing that excites me about this (D'Amaro seems fine).

I can’t imagine D’Amaro would be any worse than Iger.

I think the bigger win out of this is Dana Waldren becoming Chief Creative Officer. Even with everything that happened with Jimmy Kimmel (Kimmel actually commented on how Dana Waldren handled things + endorsed her for the sake of the CEO run); I think her becoming the official Creative Officer for Disney is going to be a good choice for the long-term.

She should've probably been CEO tbh. Disney doesn't exist without the films and TV and she was in charge of the latter.

I'm actually kind of glad she's not CEO--if only because I think her having full oversight on a creative level is going to probably suit her better in making sure projects work the way that she wants them too.

My main concern is on who they pick for the parks.

A little more than half of the overall company's profits comes from the parks. That division is the lifeblood of the modern day company... and that's with Disney+ doing decent business now.

Sure, I get it, it makes sense on paper, it's a smart business move etc etc but at the end of the day, a big part of the reason why those parks are successful is because people love the movies and shows. A successful entertainment operation is what feeds the parks, consumer products, games, etc.

Right. The park's/hotels and cruise ships are the lifeblood of the company. Too often they've been relegated to the back of the pack
while the entertainment side bleeds red ink and drains the huge profits the parks always produce.
