It’s crazy to me that the guest reaction to Avengers Campus seems to almost have been the inverse of Galaxy’s Edge — people love the entertainment and seem to be kind of meh on the rides.

I think part of it is that Mission Breakout was its own separate addition that predated being wrapped into the land so people have a tendency to think of Avengers Campus as just what was built during the second phase. MB is also visually offensive compared to what was there previously (even though I think the ride experience is superior to that version of Tower of Terror) so even with that there’s an element of “I love the new ride but…”

By the time they’re done Avengers Campus will be the most robust land in the park with two E-tickets, two other rides, entertainment, food and yet I think it’s still going to feel weirdly… off.

Nailed it. Mission Breakout doesn't feel like part of the Avengers Campus because they barely tried to incorporate it. I'm not sure it's ever even remarked upon in any meaningful way in the overwritten internal lore. It's just this towering blight of a building caught between the husk of Hollywoodland and the rest of the campus.

But at the same time... yeah, on paper, Avengers Campus will be fairly stacked with four rides, the characters, and a popular restaurant.

and....even when completed, it's doubtful it'll measure up to the, almost ancient now, MSHI at IOA. Lots of fans have complained about Universal comic book look for Marvel, but heh, that's how it all started....and it still has a better thematic feel than the very boring antiseptic look Marvel campus at DCA.

If it was up to me I would ban all phased openings at theme parks.

It does help when I remember that even Disneyland and Epcot (two of my favorite parks) opened in phases.

Different times then to be sure.

Some people on WDWMagic are speculating the dip in the ground might be for a lift to a second level like in ROTR.

That would be smart. System is similar to Transformers so why not maximize space by doing this?

It could also just be a basement for the ride not correlated to any effect. Another WDWMagic poster said the TDS Pan ride Infinity Defense is underpinned by also has a similar shaped basement.

I hope it can still be up next year...maybe it will be a Fall 2026 attraction

I forgot that Mando is coming to Smugglers Run in the Spring, so that will be the "big" draw of next year but hopefully by the fall the Ironman attraction can be up to help DCA

This is planned for 2027. Coco for 2028, Pandora for 2029-30.

I think they'll lean heavily into locals/APs next year. Maybe another temporary show at Hyperion.

I hope they don't hold the Ironman Flat ride an extra year

I know its not a big deal but it will get lines for a while and just be something else to do. For sure I can see a new show coming and that will help with Monsters down but man....these months with no events are so bad for DCA

Have they actually not gone vertical on this yet? :dizzy: 6 years in the making.

Is there any reason to believe they’d hold the flat ride for a year? I don’t see why they would.

Didn’t construction just start a few months ago?

No idea the poster above mine was saying the plan was 2027...which is when I would assume the E ticket is up but like I said next year if we get Mando in the Spring and Ironman in the fall that will make it feel like a bigger year

Along with the fact that we get PTN until next summer and maybe if we are lucky PTN will come back to DCA in 2027 after Avengers open as well

If they go for a temporary production at the Hyperion, I would what options they would have. Hercules, Newsies and even Encanto have been floated on this forum or WDWMagic. Either way I see this temporary show lasting until either both Avengers and Coco are open or after LA2028. Then you can demo the Hyperion for a 5th Avengers Campus attraction for 2030

My preferred timeline for DCA's future

2027-Avengers and Stark Flight lab.
2028-Coco
2029-Avatar
2030-5th Avengers Campus attraction
2031-1st phase of Simba

My bet is something new for Disneyland for 2030...its the 75th and will be a while by then since a new attraction was added

I assume mostly we will see ride updates at Disneyland the next few years and maybe a new parade
