Why does it always turn into some Disney vs. Universal turf war for some people  That tweet is silly.

Because some people dont like to accept that their "team" struck out.

The land and ride are getting pretty well scorched over on Magic's boards, so that tweet's implication that only Universal's "crowd" thinks it's a miss does not hold up to any scrutiny.

And yes, the constant team dynamic is tiresome.

I've only seen vids of Mission Breakout, but it looks like a lot of fun. I mean, *if* all three opened simultaneously, yeah I'd say that would be a pretty fantastic land opening. But they didn't.

There are unapologetic fanboys/fanpersons on both sides but this is pretty obvious.

Yeah. Analytically, a full Avengers Campus launches better than Hogsmeade. You would have a new, innovative family E-ticket, a rethemed thrill E-ticket, and a compelling restaurant with unique food/drink items. AC also gets Web Slingers and Dr. Strange, which is quantifiably “more” than any launch Hogsmeade.

I think, however, it’s easy to have that take since the Avengers ride is, basically, blue sky still. And while we can argue the GotG: MB re-theme is vastly superior to the Dragon Challenge re-theme, theres something to be said for the tighter, more focused design of the Hogsmeade experience. Our derision of Web Slingers boils down to Disney not taking full advantage of what the IP made available to them. Dr. Strange has the same issue. That feeling lessens the opinion of the whole land, and it’s not something anyone has charged Universal of with regard to Potter.

As we saw with Mario Kart, fans dreams never can live up to reality, so yes "an attraction as crazy as my imagination allows" would always be the greatest thing.

Also that's one hell of an if statement AND not what we got. If we're doing what ifs, what about Hogsmeade opening with Hagrid, Hogwarts Express, AND the nighttime lights shows?

Or if SNW opened with Donkey Kong’s Jungle?

Well, there's a lot to unpack there.

I don't think we know nearly enough about the Avengers ride at this point, but IF it was hypothetically a great ride, and IF Mission Breakout was a new build instead of a re-theme, then certainly Web Slingers would be much better received if all three opened together, and it would possibly contend with the Potter lands (and obviously surpass them in terms of "Opening Day" new attraction counts). The choice of overall land aesthetics would still be subject to debate.

But that's obviously not how things went down. Disney chose to open Avengers Campus with Web Slingers as the primary new draw, and -- fair or not -- it now carries a certain burden to be great. And it's not.

I don’t agree like at all. Yes it’s true that this web shooter ride would have been mostly glossed over and forgotten about but theming is no where near Potter level.

the other facts should be considered…
1. Mission Breakout has been open for years and is a success mostly due it reconfiguring an already popular ride.
2. We have no idea what the Avengers E ticket will be like. Concept art don’t mean much to me after Galaxy Edge.
3. this Spider-Man ride still looks extremely lackluster..based on videos of course.

Yeah, I actually do agree with @Alicia 's thoughts. If it was a full roll-out at once, there's a good chance it would be big!
But unfortunately, that's not how it happened. MB came quite a bit earlier, so everyone's focus is actual land with Web Slingers, the two street shows and Pym.

I'm finding it weird seeing comments elsewhere of folks saying "It's filler before the Avengers E-Ticket opens". Well right now that ride doesn't even exist as it's not under construction, nor do we know when or if they'll be breaking ground. It also heavily reminds me of the opening reception of Galaxy's Edge and Smuggler's Run. "Oh, SR was meant to be the secondary attraction, let's wait and see when RotR opens." Thing is, when RotR opened it didn't suddenly improve Smuggler's Run, nor did it magically fix issues brought up in the land.

The fact even people on Disney sites are saying Fast and Furious Supercharge seems better than Web Slinger doesn't bode well that even other attractions would rescue this one.

There is a soundtrack to the spider-man attraction based on some Instagram stories, so they definitely cut that out for media video.

Also @Alicia - I knew what you meant.

I knew what you meant! I didn't mean to seem rude. Was just saying, as it is, the opening is lackluster (IMO) compared to something like Hogsmeade. But your point is valid! Sorry if it seemed iffy.

Yeah, I agree, it's not that Web Slingers is necessarily an absolutely terrible ride in and of itself. It's that it's a bad *Spider-Man* ride. This land definitely would've made more of a statement by opening everything at once instead of piecemealing yet another land opening. Even if the Quinjet ride was under construction i'd feel better about the land since at least that's a tangible thing that we can see construction happening for the ride. Right now, we see nothing, so it feels like nothing is happening.

IoA Spidey is my favorite ride of all time, now I'm wondering how some sort of fusion between that tech and RotR's tech would be...
