The weapons are fully secure and their measures are far more stringent than film sets, etc. which is why, because of the protocols, this would be a tough ask. They are super careful.

On a side note, they wouldn't be able to do much when it comes to aerialists and any special effects, etc other than fire due to the ceiling/catwalk limitations of their existing equipment. On top of this, there are WAY too many pitfalls for people to mess around with under the stage when it comes to the elevator lifts, chemicals, high pressure systems, etc. that some casual third party performer could be injured by. They could train all of these people, but again, way more money and time than it's worth.

I really appreciate all of this insight. These are the sorts of semi-invisible factors many do not consider when they just decide the "easy" solution is to stick x in y.

It's possible they just use the exit doors of the building to load and unload talent, with people blocking all of the doors that lead up and downstairs and just use the stage. They could also use the same trailer as parade did, to change and share it with the Hollywood zone. Just saying how they *may* get around it, but again, I think it's more effort than it's worth.

I know this is early (mods let me know if this is the wrong thread) but does anyone know what dates Hell Week is this year?

But I'm more interested in the fact that the weapons can't be secured "at night" allowing another show to take place? You'd think there'd be strict rules governing the storage and access to such items that using the venue shouldn't be an issue. I mean, I own guns and I make sure that NOBODY, especially children, can access them. Is that a bridge too far for a themepark?

You'd have to assume that John and Jane Doe operating beverage carts can't just fire up Velocicoaster at 1am to take a few rides on it. There have to be checks and balances and safe guards and redudancies taken into account. It can't just be "Bourne has firearms in it so lets just turn off the lights at 6pm."

If that's a problem too complex to figure out for HHN that's terrifying.

I would assume they will split them up to split the stay and scream crowds - if they think about that kind of thing.

Stranger Things in a Soundstage and TLOU in a Parade or vice versa. That's IF Stranger Things is coming.

@IHateJumpScares has it right, no slow nights if these IPs pan out, but five of the six local counties have off Monday October 16, meaning Sunday Oct. 15 will be insufferable. The fifth district (very large Osceola) is off that Friday Oct. 13 -- and also, it's Friday the 13th at HHN -- so I expect that whole weekend to be Hell Week-ish.

Columbus Day the weekend before, that's been growing as the event attracts more out-of-staters as well. But I'm calling 11 - 15 as "true" Hell Week.

I would love to see them do something at the music plaza stage, but that is a LOT of queue space to have to relocate. I'd also be worried about people passing by and stopping in the middle of the path between the stage and Minion Cafe, as well as the walkway to HRRR and the exit by the Fallon bathrooms.

I don't think it is too much of an ask if it is a Universal-produced stage show. I can understand being hesitant about a third party using that space on a nightly basis, but there's been precedent in the past of HHN using daily park ops at night. HHN Hollywood used WaterWorld for a sinister version of the show at night, and Bill & Ted occasionally used the same effects from Wild West/Fear Factor.

Nobody said it was as simple as turning off the lights and handing the keys over, but it's definitely possible... and needed with the crowds the event gets nowadays.

The show doesn't have to use the same stuff as Bourne, all they need is the theater itself for seating and the stage for the act itself.

Add in Labor Day/Opening weekend now, probably the new Hell Week 2.

That entire queue can be moved elsewhere if they wanted to if they really tried. That area was desperately needed last year to move some bodies in with the crowding caused by Minion construction.

As someone who has been going for 10+ years WITHOUT express, big IPs can actually be extremely navigatable. On slower nights, they actually absorb a decent bit of the population while originals and smaller IPs will have significantly smaller waits (in comparisons to crowds)

The real trick is timing your booze/food/ice cream break to the flow of the event. The Golden Era of the Modern Event for those without express was when Diagon Alley wasn't marked as being open on the map. You could slip away from everyone in the park. Taking people to see it for the first time when it's empty and at night was always great.

I usually hit two or three houses 8-11. 1130 to close you can hit 4 - 5 more. With a house like Stranger Things, you just gotta bite the bullet once or twice earlier so you have that late night sweet spot to hit a bunch of houses rapidly. Saving the houses with entrances near MIB/ET are perfect for this timeslot.

Since Stranger Things 1, the longest time I've waited was for Bugs for a little over an hour, and that was a logistics issue not a due to overpopulation.

So how possible would it be for Horror Makeup to run during the event?

Or Animal Actors to house a show? (despite the nightmare that that area of the park will already be)

It's possible and would love a more adult version of Horror Makeup or something using that stage. The only problem is that the theater can only hold ~600 guests per show and if they run it in the typical daytime ops of shows every 45 minutes during the event, they can run it 10 times for 6k guests a night.

Yeah the small size of the theater is the downside. How much can the Animal Actors stage hold?

Some interesting tidbits from "IKnowMoreThanYou" on Reddit:

the originals are really intriguing and really unique - including a real-life legend, some deep-seeded HHN lore, a conceptual prophecy from a far away land, and some mythical/magical creatures never before seen at HHN in this manner

HHN lore sure seems to back up Dr. Oddfellow's carnival. Mythical creatures I assume dragons (really hoping for some Dueling Dragons Easter eggs). No idea on the other two, unless maybe devil emoji is The Jersey Devil? Just something new from a seemingly credible source.

I do like the original show but it’s old. They need to change it up. Maybe an HHN special show on a different stage, you’re right tiny theater. They could do special showings for R.I.P. tour groups only and wouldn’t have to worry about capacity to entice more tour groups.
