I finally read all 49 pages here, and my head hurts. Some of these ideas are.. well.. um, interesting?

I am interested in the White Whale idea and what is left. I would guess this year, they tried for The Conjuring again.. and lost again. I wonder what others there are? I would LOVE Lost Boys and/or Gremlins.

My ultimate wish has been Phantasm. I wonder if that one has ever been discussed or considered? I realize the movie outdates the majority of you here, but even though it has a somewhat cheesy 70's vibe, I still think it's a terrific horror film with tons of potential for a house. I only bring this up because you all were discussing White Whales.. and knowing the ages of some of the top A&D people, I would think this could be a possiblity. Maybe I'm wrong.

My other wish is Silence of the Lambs.

As for the music house idea.. honestly, the fact that Ozzy hasn't been a feature yet is beyond reasoning. He's the OG. And, his latest album, Patient Number 9, has been a big success not to mention his first Grammy nom. Have you SEEN the videos for this album? Sorry, but he runs circles around your buddy The Weeknd. Ok, so I'm old. Go ahead and light your torches and pick up your pitchforks.. I can take it.

One last thing - there is no way Uni incorporates an escape game for HHN. They attempted a version of this with The Repository years ago which, while fun, wasn't truly an escape room either. If you guys want to do a scary escape game, I have just the place for you.. and it's not on Uni property. Message me if you're interested.

Honestly speaking on The Weeknd? His imagery is far more gruesome and horror like on the whole than Ozzy. Even lyrically The Weeknd tends to have darker lyrics. That being as said, as a fan of both artists, I’d love to see an Ozzy house do the epic visuals his videos tend to have. They’d make for an extremely scenic house.

And yes, Patient Number 9 was amazing honestly. Brilliant album. Completely agree there.

As for movies predating many of us here: The Monsters predate every person on this forum. And people love them. Don’t think age matters honestly.

And so maybe Weeknd was lightning in a bottle. It seems that speculation has become hyper-focused on the idea of more music representation at HHN but I don't really understand why, AHN was a great house and reportedly Abel worked closely with Universal to bring it to life, but nothing has indicated music will become a staple at the event or a guarantee for future years. Almost every artist mentioned by others (besides Gaga) has such minor connections to horror that they can't be considered anything but a stretch.

In a nutshell, I'm failing to understand why we're considering any possible artist when a music house isn't a guarantee just due to the success of one. Without any spec maps or much info currently, the only likely one is probably Dawn FM.

From what I remember reading around, the Weeknd was the biggest ip universal ever had. I think bigger than any movie or show ( if I remember correctly from what everyone said)

I think someone here or online said that the Weeknd house has the biggest feedback or something. One of the most successful houses?

I'm just going by what I remember but I know people said it was a gigantic deal.
( Plus universal getting Billie eilish after rob zombie )
So to me it seems like the hunger and expectation for a music house is there.
I think Weeknd was bigger and more of a bigger deal than Alice Cooper was.

I think ozzy was used in Hollywood but never here.
Universal is weird. They used Slash for Hollywood but not here
You would think both coasts would share someone like Slash or ozzy.

When it comes to Ozzy, they done a house with Black Sabbath. His solo material has never been touched before.

Legacy basically confirmed that the lost whale was once again, Scream.

Phantasm are one of those films that I could see be an interesting house and a lot of good iconic scenes and effects they could recreate of course The Tall Man being a menacing image on merchandise would be nice and different and I'm not so sure if they've given up on Silence of the Lambs just yet, I mean we had gotten a little taste what they could've done when they've had him at the event unofficially and officially. Here's to hoping those come later on down the line.

Phantasm is the one "classic cult horror" property that I'm shocked they haven't done yet.

It may be a licensing thing. Those movies all went through different distributors, and it seems like the only one being actively open to license (as of a few years ago) is part 2 for some reason.

I gotta be honest with IPs like
-Chucky
-The Last of Us
-Blumhouse
- Evil dead Rise
-Saw
-Stranger Things
-Scream

all seemingly being possible IPs they could possibly go for or try to go for, I really don’t think they need or would even try to go for any “cult classic” or “white whales” this year. I don’t see any reason they would go for those now when possibly in a few years if there aren’t as many new IPs they can pull one of those to complete a IP line up.

Here’s I’ve been wondering since they’re next Chucky house for this year is based on the first two seasons of the TV series: If It does well critically, do you guys think they could bring it back for the newly renewed third season? Would make sense if they still couldn’t get the rights of outside IP’s like Elm Street again or Scream, and give use a break with Halloween at the same time for the Slasher slot to represent. I’d save Texas for a couple of years or so for later if I were them.

Oh they absolutely are I just meant in general I wouldn’t expect any major horror classics when there’s all this modern horror that will only be relevant for this year

I guess we will have to agree to disagree on Ozzy vs the Weeknd. Honestly, I laughed out loud when you said that the Weeknd is more "horror like" than Ozzy. Ozzy has been horror since he started. I guess it's all subjective since from what I've seen of the Weeknd, the videos are in that slasher type vein, while Ozzy is all over the place classic horror imagery (religious symbology, bats, hell, werewolves, and even aliens - "scary little green men", etc). Anyway, I would enjoy the hell out of an Ozzy experience. He is the Prince of Darkness after all. LOL

I'm hoping for a little more creativy with the houses other than just slashers and zombies. I know a lot of you are excited about Chucky. I, personally, HATE Chucky.. maybe it's my age. I just find it mind-numbingly dumb. When you add things like Saw and Scream and even The Last of Us - you're talking about slashers and zombies which I thnk are all over done. I still have nightmares from the Walking Dead overkill. If I never see another zombie at HHN, it will be too soon. However, I'm sure it's coming again sooner than later in some form. They've already done Saw more than once and I hated it every time. It's like going through a zoo owned by a lunatic because all you see is one room after another with some kind of murderous gory setup. I find it boring.

I've said this before, but I'll say it again before anyone gets mad.. horror is a subjective thing. My opinions are just my opinions. I'm not disparaging anyone here or their taste in horror. I'm just old school, and I find more paranormal subject matter to be the scary stuff. Give me Phantasm, The Ring or The Conjuring any day. I also adore all the Uni monsters, so I'm good with that.

My fave houses tend to be the aggressive or traditional or eerie types like Scarecrow or Wicked Growth or Winter's Night or Gothic, etc. I also love it when they have done perfect representation of classics like Halloween from 2014 or American Werewolf or even Ghosbusters. I think each year, we need a house like that. I'd love a Lost Boys treatment akin to Halloween - perfectly created with obvious love by A&D.

Saw pictures of the newly walled-off KidZone and am very curious on how this will affect the logistics of the event this year. That narrow pathway to E.T. with HHN-level crowds would be absolutely insane.

I know it's been discussed previously, but I am very curious as well.

Especially if they would actually decide to open ET to help with capacity.

Yeah that's a huge list. A really big ip list
I was hoping for something like return of the living dead for an 80s house or lost boys.
But your list is more than enough for this year.
Even just half of these covers it for the year.
Specially if these studios are already willing

I said this 3-4 years ago already but, music wise Iron Maiden is the biggest band in the world next to Metallica in fame and recognition ( even if you don't listen to metal you recognize Eddie)

I remember saying ( why are we getting Billie eilish when something like iron maiden is world wide famous and more huge) and the consensus was that while maiden might be big and horror related, Billie eilish would bring the young teen audience that hhn was craving.
While maiden has had the biggest concerts ever made on record ( biggest audiences of all time) and their entire album art is horror related
I remember everyone explaining that Billie eilish was more fresh and relevant for today. And that most teens don't know about maiden.
The conclusion to that conversation was that, while maiden might be more horror than Billie, and bigger in fame worldvwide, Billie eilish was more relevant and fresh at the moment.

Between something like maiden and Billie, it sounded like Billie was the best bet and the one that was more appropriate for the kind of young guest that hhn wanted
I bring this up because your Ozzy Osbourne post about the contrast with the Weeknd sounds almost identical to my post about iron maiden and Billie eilish.
And while Ozzy Osbourne is tailor made for hhn, it always sounds like hhn prefers something that will bring teens into hhn. ( I too would obviously prefer Ozzy. Metallica, or even Michael Jackson's thriller instead of more modern singers)
I did personally like the Weeknd house. But I'm still hoping for maiden lol.

I wouldn’t be shocked if the answer involves more walking to the parade buildings.

I'd imagine there will be a walled-off walk way through the current KidZone area come HHN time. Even with a complete demolish of the area there will be a safely walkable path. I mean look at some of the extended Sprung tent areas. It's gravel, pavement, curbs, elevated walkways, etc.

This was my thought as well, back when we first discussed this when the closure first got announced. No reason they can’t just make a walkable path with construction walls on each side. As far as all the food tents they usually put in that area, I have no clue as to what they have planned for that.

I know some have said that WB related IP may not happen since they've been unreliable partners. However. If i'm leading up HHN, I just don't see how you could watch that premiere of The Last of Us and not immediately want to pick up the phone to bring a house to the event. I sincerely hope they find a way to make it happen.

Fingers crossed. If there's a property tailor-made for a house, it's The Last of Us.

I'm not sure if the food booths will really be affected, they're typically set up a bit further out from KidZone aren't they?

Maybe it's just me, but it feels kinda incredible that there is already a roster of IPs where we're all pretty much like, "Yeah, I could see those happening", and it's still January.
