Kareem Daniel is out too, who headed up the Chapek created Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution division, which took control away from creatives. He was a Chapek stooge. He also decided where content went and this is why animated content has largely been pushed to streaming under Chapek.

This will change how and where Disney releases content. I.e. some Fox films that are Hulu or Disney+ original films may have been theatrical releases under Iger such as Prey, Pixar films, and films like Disenchanted or Hocus Pocus 2.

As I mentioned in my earlier post, Iger is having that division reorganized, so this should hopefully provide a much-needed boost for the films. Putting such a chunk of films straight to streaming took away potential money to be made in theaters.

And this is no doubt one of the reasons why filmmakers and animators are so relieved with the recent news.

Yes. Reports have continually surfaced that he was very much disliked within executive circles. He had a lot of say regarding budgets. Dislike is using a mild term from accounts I had read in the past year or two.

Yup, things are going to essentially go back to business as usual before Chapek for Disney as far as how things are run.

The tricky part now for Iger is finding a successor who sees the company the way he does and is willing to run the studio side in the same way as I think Iger has always run the studios very well. Hopefully the parks see some love too, though. I’m not too optimistic given they are performing great, but the threat of EU could give Iger the boost he needs to give the green light to some projects.

Iger's open letter tonight promised a reorganization and giving more authority to creatives in the company.

I can verify that the Starcruiser is not filling up and they are resorting to bring in locals during dinner and other activities to give the appearance of it being more full than it actually is.

Which was also started under Iger. it's funny. I've read a lot of people cheering his return and even Youtube videos ecstatic. However, prior to his departure, the same people were saying how Iger was the worst. Short-term memory loss, I guess. As many here have said, the first and biggest thing is to figure out how to fix Disney+ and stop its hemorraging of money. Though not a subscriber, it seems that they have rolled out so much filler that the streaming service is inundated with a lot of dung. The Creative team for movies (live action and cartoon) needs to figure out what to do. Disney's live-action movies have relied solely on remakes and there are only so many dips from that well before you run out of water.

One additional thing is to stabilize the stock price and maybe even have it increase beyond the initial bump that it received.

No short term memory loss for me. Go check the other thread when Chapek replaced Iger. I was one of the few who looked back at his tenure and was able to say that while he wasn’t perfect, he was a steady captain and see his tenure with a level head because the parks aren’t the only thing I like about Disney.

Chapek sure as hell was not equipped for the job and made Iger look like the Tom Brady or Michael Jordan of executives.

Yes....and since Iger delegated authority usually, Chapek for all intents was making the theme park decisions for a long time. People often forget how Chapek botched the 2019 GESWL openings that resulted in
low attendance parks on both coasts, instead of the expected heavy crowds.

Steady/stability are definitely needed right now. A series of missteps or bad press have given Disney a black eye. Nothing that cannot be overcome. Iger will provide that with his experience and should help them overcome all of this. His choice of successor will have to be carefully vetted, though. More so than even before.

That may be an issue as some of the "creatives" in the company have lost their minds

So now that the words out that there was a high level 'Executives' revolt, with some threatening to quit, and the highest levels (CFO) going to the Board,......it gives some context into who released
Chapek's draft letter calling for massive layoffs and cuts last week. Surely that was no low level executive/manager.

It's literally going back to how things were from 2005 to February 2020. The only difference is Alan Horn is gone now.

Interesting article on the front page of the Wash Post (paywall). The article is about a social media storm erupting when Chapek was fired, & Iger returned. As we would expect,
the voiced requests/ demands to fix Disney's parks are, in no particular order...
*Eliminate park reservations
* No hour limits to park hopping
*Eliminate Genie +, Lightening Lane, and dependence on having to use smartphones so much
*Return perks for onsite hotel guests
*Bring back Magic Express Airport transportation
*Restore Dining Plans
*AP's available again
*Quit complicating vacations
*Quit nickel & diming guests. That's the one's I remember, There were a few others. :)

Yes.....But.... It will be interesting to see if he throws out a few bones. I think there might be a possibility he eliminates the reservations and park hopping restrictions, and cuts
down on the necessity to use smartphones in the parks so much.....He'll probably do a few changes for good PR, if no other reason.

So willing to bite, is Josh being kicked? Sam Carter (Artist who has worked with WDI prior) seemed to suggest that something may be occuring with Josh getting axed as part of the reorganziations. Been curious to see how people might react to that, and what that could mean for the long haul (please cancel Lake Nona).
