A system like that would probably allow them to come close to reliably achieving the "shark pulls the boat" effect from the first version of the Jaws ride.

JAWS and Kongfrontation were honestly the best possible realizations of those films that I think we could hope to see. With today's technology and advancements, it would be amazing to see how they'd turn out if built again. The USJ version of JAWS is a good example - build less than 6 years after the second version opened in Orlando, they learned what didn't work there and ironed out the flaws. The animatronics are 17 years old and functioning more effectively than Florida's were in 2011 (which isn't difficult, to be fair). As much as I'd love to see it - I just don't think we will.. at least not in this new park.

It seems Kong films keep coming out as well, which keeps him in the public spotlight...Maybe when they reboot JAWS inevitably lolz

You know what would make a great classic dark boat ride?

I will say that if any ride ever comes back from the dead, Jaws would be the #1 pick - but it's just not in the cards.

Since IOA is made up of multiple themed lands, I was always curious if a nighttime show was possible.

You can’t have park-wide parade because, for example, Seuss characters can’t parade through Marvel. Are Seuss characters allowed to be seen in the nighttime show from Marvel?

The park definitely isn’t set up for great viewing spots from most of the islands. Pretty much the entire audience would have to be in Port of Entry (there’s a great spot for an auditorium when PoE hits the water), but I don’t think that’s big enough.

The night time show doesn't need to be an ip fest. The old show was called "island blast." The whole park is set up for night show viewing. Each island has a waterside area and most of them have tiered viewing locations

So your saying out of Back to the future and Jaws, Classic Monsters and the possibility of a WaterWorld cloned show coming to Florida are more likely? Since WaterWorld is a universal property. The new Kong is not Universal but it seems like we will be seeing more Kong since he is owned by legendary/WB now. Godzilla vs Kong and a new Kong Skull Island 2 I heard is in the works. If only Universal can use the rights to bring A new Kong Legendary version over to the fourth gate. Classic Monsters I don’t think would fit well with Godzilla.....he needs his own seperate monsters land. He is not classic like Wolf Man, creature from the black lagoon, Frankenstein, Dracula, and he’s not a universal monster.

The only one that is seeming to reality, is the Universal Monsters.

As @Legacy say's (along from my neck of the woods), there is renewed interest with the branding in Universal. And it's a lot more than what the current odds are of BTTF, Jaws and/or Waterworld getting prominently featured in Gate 3.

Could that change in the manner of a millisecond? Oh definitely. But it does have more going for it than any of those three as of now, regardless of the piss poor results of The Mummy remake.

When will we see an update of the mummy at USF since the new movie with Tom Cruise came out that is now considered the dark universe.

He may not get 2 rides but it’s quite interesting like one user posted Kong is still under the spotlight but not under Universal’s rights.

They were going to, or at least thinking about it, but then the movie bombed. Instead, some of that budget just went to general refurbs for the ride that we saw this past year.

(So glad the movie bombed.)

King Kong 2005, which the current Kong rides are based on, is a Universal Pictures release.

I would say what Skull Island is at USF..borrows more than being directly based off of the 2005 film.

There are obvious parallels to creature models & environments, but it does have somewhat a sense of it's own identity in a few way's.

As much as I hate saying it, as it had potential..yeah, I'm glad the film got bombed. Because in a sense, that means they can potentially go back and see what they did wrong, to hopefully make things right.

Also, @Imperius is right; there is no shot in hell that Kong will recieve an additional attraction, off of a completely different iteration that's already present at IOA. And no, they won't update the IOA attraction to match the Legendary Pictures (which is in-essence..a third party).

And even then, who's to say that they couldn't propose something to where each land gets a nighttime show of it's own in some kind?

Actually what I meant to say was that Kong is still under the spotlight by a different production company. But KongFrontation was by a different production company too. I mean the 1976 movie with Jeff Bridges that wasn’t Universal. I know their won’t be another Kong attraction but with another sequel on the way and he is fighting godzilla next year. We will be seeing a lot of Kong but Universal cannot use him anymore??????
