Nah, they really didn't. That was in no way intentional.

Are we sure about that? That much concept art was accidentally leaked? I bet that was intentional.

If they were going to intentionally leak concept art to get feedback, why would they leak it to a random, irrelevant twitter user and not to someone with a following to actually get a reaction from a large sample size?

Or leak something, you know, accurate with plans at that we’re accurate to plans at that time!

Here’s my question to you: How would they get that concept art? All of it. It just seems a little suspicious to me.

But let’s say that we don’t get the leaked concept art from Universal. We could still get it anyways. Or, if we don’t, we could get substantial rumors about what this park is, number of rides, tech, IP’s, etc.

People get concept art all the time. I've seen stuff for the SLoP ride for years. I had the leaked layout of the SNW pitch described to me in detail in 2015. This stuff gets out there more often than not. Most people just don't go around posting it to Twitter.

1) it’s from the law firm that created the licensing agreement and represented universal

2) this is besides the point, most leaks don’t come from Universal or Disney but 3rd parties

Universal is using the word EPIC quite a lot in their communications and on the crates in the park. Subliminal messaging started for the new park?

While you’re right in most aspects, I don’t think Universal will wait to announce the new park after SWGE. They have to start construction next year, and with that comes a groundbreaking ceremony. They’ve also alluded to the new park multiple times now, so they’re being completely open about it.

If I had to take a guess...

  1. Permits leak later this year.
  2. Universal purposely leaks concept art early next year, to see the reception.
  3. Groundbreaking in September, along with a short concept video and art.

I just don't think it would be ideal to announce a new park BEFORE SWGE. Announcing it before could lead to people forgetting about it once SWGE opens. Now, after SWGE they can do ahead and announce. Why risk having people forget a new park when you can announce a park right after? However, I could see them announce that expansion for the resort has begun, but not any exact details.

I'm almost certain the "Epic Universe" trademarks are for a marketing campaign, not a park or the south resort.

They're using the word too much for it to be otherwise, IMO, and I don't think they're dumb enough to retry the Universal Escape fiasco.

Every time I say "I don't think they're dumb enough..." in my life, I am unpleasantly surprised.

But I do think you're right. Other than Endless Summer and the endlessly long resort names, they've been pretty good with naming things since Escape.

Couldn’t they just release more info as time goes on, instead of doing it all at once? It would be a great marketing strategy if they showed something new once a year.

Here's what the release of info will (probably) look like:
-Sometime in the next 18 months the project will be announced maybe with some vague artwork, a timeframe, and an over view (park, water park, citywalk, x number of resorts)
-A year after that, maybe some more solid details on the park
-A year or so before opening, we'll get the blow out

I doubt there will be more announcements than that

No doubt about it. I've mentioned it before but this is probably the easiest way to explain it. Theme parks have a very specific trademark stating amusement park services only. USF is slightly different because it was also a movie studio.

Epic Universe is a little more broad.

That seems completely reasonable. Epic Universe's trademark seems to cover the entire resort.

I wonder if Universal is going to go the Disney route with a new marketing theme/tagline every 12-18 months.

You are talking about announcements for the new park/resort when we don't even have the name of the new Harry Potter coaster :lmao:

Yea, but they've announced the coaster is happening. Same situation here. They'll announce the new resort when construction starts to really get going. We won't get solid details until the project is further along, just like we never get solid details on Uni rides until they're 6-7 months away from opening
