Wouldn't it be weird to call just one area that will debut with just one park "Epic Universe"?

And recall that WDW has so many disparate areas that they don't need inclusion. UOR, however, will have just three.

"Universal's Epic Universe" just doesn't sound right to me. A bit too much redundancy in the phrasing.

Good points @Badgeking
Something we have all failed to mention or suggest, you did. Expansion areas. Duh.
Take Dreamworks, for example. They might have Shrek and Trolls at park opening, with a third area earmarked for HTTYD as an expansion 4 years after opening. If “movie xyz” seems to be a hit like a frozen, it potentially takes over that expansion spot instead of Berk.

I simply don’t expect them to swallow an elephant in one bite here.

As interesting as the new park and what it will offer is exciting, it’ll also be very interesting to see how much they leave undeveloped and earmarked for expansion later on down the line.

I’m just happy that we’re finally starting to get a grip on this new park. Before, it was all guesswork. But now, with everything that gets ruled out and all the trademarks/permits, we’re finally starting to begin to see what this park actually is.

Chances are, we’ll probably see the plans/permits before the end of the year. Groundbreaking next spring.

I feel like Epic Universe would go to the current complex and Fantastic Worlds would be the other complex if they go that route. I feel like the new complex is going to be very, very themed with each area of the whole complex being on the level of Diagon. Calling that whole area Fantastic Worlds and having two or three parks (down the line) all highly themed to IP's makes more sense than calling it Epic Universe. I also don't see the new complex opening with just one park. It will be the park, a new version of Citywalk, and AT LEAST one new resort. I also can't see them sitting on another 300+ acres of empty land for long. I fully expect 7-10 years after this new park opens we will have at least two more resorts and a new gate open. Possibly even a waterpark.

The whole Disney thing I don't quite get. Sure it's far more spread out, but they really only have 6 parks and one shopping area. Universal will have 4 parks and two shopping areas (possibly). Just like WDW is considered the blanket term for the that whole area, UOR will be the term for their whole area. Think of each of the two Universal complexes like Ticket and Transportation. They will be a way to connect guests to transportation systems and multiple parks, yet Universal's will be highly themed with shops, restaurants and night clubs. Each complex will need it own name that is a blanket term for what that area connects too. Ticket and Transportation connects to Epcot and Magic Kingdom and a handful of resorts. The "Epic Universe" complex will connect to Universal, Islands, Volcano, and a handful of resorts. "Fantastic Worlds" will connect to the new park and a handful of resorts with more parks added soon. Same concept, just the land mass is closer together.

That name seems like a marketing strategy, and such an early trademark means they want to get stuff out there as soon as possible to build hype.

Universal Orlando's Epic Universe (TM) of 4 Amazing Parks, Numerous On-Site Hotels and unique entertainment options. Book your stay at the most EPIC place.. blah blah

Yeah it sounds like an expansion of that.

I think over time they want "Universal's Epic Universe" to compete with "Walt Disney World" instead of the traditional Universal Orlando Resort name. In reality it'll be a branding exercise more than anything because it's hard to imagine that sticking as a regular name in the lexicon of theme park fans/customers. But for branding purposes and ad campaigns, it should work well.

Hey y’all let’s take the discussion on the new resort and any possible names to the UOR Expansion thread and keep this for the new park.

Isn’t Beijing supposed to get some sort of Classic Monsters land? If so, we’ll probably see some rides ported over from there, along with a new ride or two, a show, or something along those lines.

That’s assuming we get it, of course. But that’s seeming more likely with each day that goes by.

And I would also be surprised if we didn’t get Zelda at this point. It’s the closest thing Universal has to LOTR, and I’d argue that it could be better than that.

Depends on what you mean by "better". Zelda certainly lends itself better to attraction opportunities, which are not all that apparent from the LOTR stories

As a land, it can be. You underestimate the creativity found in the Zelda franchise

I still think LOTR is on the table for somebody. It may not end up in the 3rd dry park at the start, but the Tolkien Estate (now led by heirs who want to monetize JRR's works before they enter public domain) has a huge incentive to get a theme park rights deal negotiated.

Various works enter public domain over the next 30 years, it's hard to imagine the heirs will just sit by and not get some theme park $ when they took $250 million from Amazon just for the tv rights.

I mentioned a while back that I had heard that Universal backed out of nearly complete negotiations because UC felt that with Potter, HTTYD, and Zelda more wizards, dragons, and medieval landscapes would be redundant.

And the Nintendo thing I am still trying to get confirmed is I have heard all Nintendo has been moved to Site B. But as I said. Unconfirmed and not what others are saying. But "Fantastic Worlds" makes me think it may be true.

I feel like the only way Jaws would ever return to universal Orlando would be if the success of the movie The Meg by Warner bros happens to do great. Because people will start thinking that The Meg is the new Jaws of shark flicks. It is a longshot either way though since it has been like 30 something years Jaws hasn't had a movie for awhile. As for back to the future this is just my thought of it returning make a mini land if a Sci-Fi area lands at a 4th park with star trek possibly theme BTTF with the western style theme from Part 3 of BTTF something we haven't seen before. Launch coaster I I am all for that too.

Again, as I've said before here, the existing SNW is *only* 8 acres. It's relatively tiny., especially if they want it to be the "cornerstone" of the new park. It makes sense to have Pokmeon and Zelda or whatever else they have planned to go along with it.

Time for a Jaws reboot. Chris Pratt as Brody, Samuel L. Jackson as Squint, and Justin Bieber as Hooper.

That's 8.8 acres, thank you very much!

But, yea, point taken.

I mean SNW + Pokemon, Dreamworks, Fantastic Beasts, Monsters, and a Sci-fi area would easily be the best park in the US.
