Good idea. And it trends towards the Family attraction dynamic that they could use more of in their parks.

I'm just going to quote myself since I'm being lazy but I think there is a lot of potential.

Just to throw another IP out there. What's the current situation with Roald Dahl and parks? I don't know how popular he is in the US but I think he's been a huge part of every kids in the UK.

I know Alton Towers has a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory ride but it's not great and I think it could have great potential on a large scale. Having a sweet shop at the exit is a no brainer. Steven Spielberg is also directing The BFG which will be out next year but it's being distributed by Disney but I know Steven Spielberg is very friendly with Universal if that could be another possibility.

Why are you trying to claim "FIRST!", when I was more/less bringing your idea back up. It's a blue sky thread, relax.

Or pointing out a activity you are absolutely notorious and unashamed about.

I don't give two craps about credit. It wasn't an original idea.

I love that you brought it up and would love to hear your insights/what you would like to see. You are an architecture major if I remember so you could envision some cool environments.

There's really no need to envision the environments. They already exist on film. Now would I want to completely replicate it (personally)? Probably not.

The Chocolate river would obviously be the motivating factor for a compelling boat ride, along with the many environments and characters (oompa lumpa's) to choose from in the Chocolate Factory. It would definitely be a ride that could really "pop" color wise.

Relax dude. It's blue sky.

Sorry I asked. Just trying to start a discussion and hear your thoughts on an idea you like. :)

You yourself said you wouldn't follow / replicate the film so I just wanted to hear your thoughts on ride type, entrance, queue. :-)

You just know there would have to be plenty of warning signs not to drink the water.

I am relaxed. I was genuinely responding to your question posed at the end. No ill intent.

Dark ride first in the chocolate river, then the boat goes up in a hallucinogenic elevator, then huge spashdown!

I'd love for a Wonka ride to be a guided ride, sort of like Jungle Cruise (minus the corny jokes). It could be like a tour through the factory then the Universal staple "...something goes wrong" type of deal.

Good find, Mike. I had forgotten how good that scene was. It's kind of a foretelling of what might happen if parents take their little kids on the Skull Island Reign of Kong attraction. ;)

If I was to make a Wonka attraction, I would divide it into three parts, The factory tour where you can try all the crazy snacks and drinks and everything in the movie (except the wallpaper eww even if the snozberries tastes like snozzberries) and ride the great glass elevator and the cleaning vehicle, then have the boat ride be the E-ticket and would work great as that at least the film version would have to be made using projection mapping and screens.

The factory tour is what I would make the queue for the ride. After the ride, you would exit into the "tourist outlet". After all, Wonka has had the factory locked away to most. It would be quite the change for the factory to have consistent visitors.

I thought about it as the queue but if you look at the film, a major thing revolving around the film is the five senses. With a queue, you may not have time to interact with things as much as you would like. Also by separating the two you can expand the thing into a larger attraction which can hold way more people and also allows families with children who would be scared to ride other things to do and play and mess with. The factory essentially is a playground/funhouse with a lot of food items you can buy and try.

Not to mention DisneyHead is the one that brought this up probably well over a year ago lol I agree with the relax.

How about a pager system. You do the factory part as slow as you want and if you don't want to ride the ride you give back the pager when you are done. But if you want to ride you go to the line when your number is called. Similar to Dumbo.
