As I will repeat - the point of blue sky is to blue sky and that's exactly what I am doing.

I don't need an adult sized Magic Kingdom nor do I want one. I just like thinking of the things universal or any other theme parks could do without having to deal with the inevitable, whiny, complaining family that diminishes the intended experiences due to their own lack of parenting.

Nor terribly scientific, but on my Facebook, the people I know with children are not the ones who have the money to spend on vacations.

Move Over, Kids, It's Grown-Up Time - WSJ

This article sums up some of my feelings.

And I strongly agree with that sentiment. Nothing upsets me as much as the double wide strollers with eight year old kids that should be walking, banging into my shins at MK. But, I just don't see a highly expensive theme park eliminating that demographic, though Universal's present make up does keep that demographic at an acceptable level....On the point of Blue Sky, no one is critical of your right to present your view, Heck, basically that's all most of us ever do, since, with the exception of a few insiders, we're just somewhat knowledgeable fans. But there is a natural discussion of concepts on these threads, so there's no need to take exception to anyone discussing your ideas. In fact, it's kind of flattery to your concept that people are discussing what they believe, in their opinions, are the merits of your idea. The people on Orlando United are basically a very friendly nice group of people, unlike a few other theme park sites, that are dominated by negative cranky posters. We're basically a mellow bunch that just likes to discuss ideas that are brought up. :)

I don't think Universal has ever indicated they wanted to be a Disney Magic Kingdom type park. Universal kind of does their own thing and it's proving to be quite successful, especially in the per guest spending category, and since revenue is the name of the game in business, that may well be the best way to go......But I do think an adult only park limits you too much. The Universal way of aiming for teen/adults and throwing in a few family rides is working quite well. I think they'll stick to that and maybe just tweek the family ride category a little by adding a few more attractions. But certainly not a Disney castle park mix.

Agreed, I never expect uni to go full on Disney. I do think they will offer more family level attractions, especially those 40" coasters. But I don't want them to go kiddie, because Disney had enough of that. I want more things like HM or POTC where the whole family can enjoy.

I go to the parks a lot and sure I run into bad parenting and whiny kids at times, but even prior to kids this never ruined anything for me. I might make a comment to my spouse about it, but it by no means destroys anything. I also feel most parents have a hold of their kids and many kids there are respectful nice kids. But then again I like kids and always wanted kids. Same with all my friends, everyone was always fine with it because they all eventually wanted kids and knew one day that might be their kid. Heck we have our kids under control and still we once had a meltdown in Sea World. It happens even to the best of us because they are kids. Now I threatened to walk out of the park right then and there and the meltdown stopped and she said she was sorry. But if you only saw the meltdown you might think I am a bad parent that spoiled their kids or whatever.

Oh and I can't stand the 8 year olds in strollers either. I can't wait to be out of diapers and out of strollers and back to the no bag line. So I have no clue why they want a stroller. As I stated in another post last time at Disney we parked it at one ride and did all of fantasy land then came back for it. We unfortunately have a diaper bag and can't make the trip in and out of the park without the stroller.

I don't take afront to anyone discussing my ideas.

I take afront to people insulting my intelligence. ;)

Blue sky is about what we hope wish and dream for, regardless of actuality....so quit raining on my parade.

I want an intense, scary Kong that doesn't need a higher Hieght Restriction for parents who can't say NO to their children. I want a Matrix Stunt Show. A True Blood restaurant and Night Club. A 300 ride. An Alien Experience. A Shining Hotel. Food and Wine Festival 365.

A park where I don't have to wait 10 minutes for jimmy to decide if he wants a burger or a hot dog.

And where do you think people are insulting your intelligence? I really think you need to mellow out, my friend. Nice people here. No need for tantrums. And Blue Sky is basically a business term. It really doesn't have much to do with hopes & dreams. :)

When they explain that it is not financially realistic, or when they try to tell me how theme parks make money, or when they try to explain to me how a theme park community of which I have been a member of since 2002 operates, or when they say Blue Sky is "basically a business term" (do I need to share the true definition...?) or when they tell me to "mellow out" when I'm half-naked on my couch stoned (I don't know how more mellow I could be...)

Should I continue?

Yes, but again, HHN, PI and clubbing downtown are/were all things that young people set aside money for to have fun a few hours on maybe a few days a month (I know this well as I do it )

A park based on this math would need to be very small and a boutique park.

But the crowds at HHN belie this. Not an ideal example, but ditto the Friday the 13th Villains Party. And again, Church St. Station/PI both printed money in their heydays.

In any case, college kids are a smaller segment of the potential market. The main thrust would be OCCC, which this new land sets tantalizingly close to.

Going head to head with MK is a losing proposition, as Universal found out first hand with IoA. They built a better park and families still didn't come. Limited number of vacation days, families will ALWAYS spend one at MK. Rather than compete for crumbs from that market, I think it makes more financial sense to strike a new path, go after another demo not currently being served ... that in the past has made a number of venues very, very rich.

I know I really shouldn't egg this on, but that was one of the most entertaining back and forths I've read on these forums. It even had a 90's M. Night Shyamalan twist.

In this case, I think an Adult Park may be way to niche, even more than some other ideas here..

 Yes. And entertainment is one of the priorities of posting here. Real live news & confirmation of rumors are nice to have, but we get very little of that, so speculation is what we probably do best. So let it not rain on our parade, and speculate & discuss whatever theories are espoused, to our hearts content (at least until Superbowl Kickoff). Sunday fun day. :)

the thing with Lakia, your dealing with stories that can cater EVERYONE, and not just one specific market. And that its something that's made some profit and made in the NBCUniversal/Focus umbrella.

It doesn't matter on the Animation to me (even if the films do get placed there). If theres a film (or any film; Regardless of Company) that can be represented extremely well, as the film being as good as it can be; then i'm completely fine with Universal (or any theme park company) doing a specific IP.

If you wish to discuss more why I could be wrong, then do it in DMs; as that's my opinion.

That said,

I am thinking that when Universal does the third park; it could be able to have something, that I think NO ONE would expect, that'd cater to everyone and anyone, regardless of an IP or not.

I think some folks are not understanding me when I say "Adult Park" and immediately think I want a Universal w Stripper Poles, Sex and the City and free condoms.

By and large I already classify Universal as a more "Adult" park/escape/vacation.

Open F&F / Fallon, destroy kid zone, shrek and disposable me = "adult" park.

IOA doesn't have nearly the amount of things to do for the entire family... THAT is why it did bad in comparison.

Nearly everything has a height requirement.
