Someone should post that Disney raptor again, just for perspective..

See Tim Tracker's thoughts

With the UTH tour I never noticed the wolves being weird looking or even the Aliens for that matter. So I guess we can't form an opinion or we should just give them a pass because it's better than nothing. Just my thoughts though.

I'm just saying you can't really compare the 2. The Raptor is in an open-world setting. Not as easy to hide everything.

I was able to do this over the weekend. I actually really enjoy the setup, except for how much it sucks to be waiting in the heat but alas. Florida problems. Once you get in and they start the "show," it's really great. And you can't judge this by pictures. It looks a lot better in person, has great movement, and the sound effects just make it. But you have to remember.. it is basically an elaborate meet-and-greet but the interactions are wonderful. The thing got really close to me while I was posing for the picture and I jumped. Then it roared at me and I did I put my hand out and did "Stay" to which it bowed in submission. Owen trained this one well.

I love how everyone who saw it this weekend on Twitter was gushing about how great it is, but the people who haven't seen it are complaining about dopey things like "The head looks a little off".:bang:

Look, this is probably beating a dead horse, but it doesn't look a little off.. it looks a lotta off. I mean, for any hardcore JP fan it's a mess. The Raptor is the star of the show, and for fans of Dinosaurs and JP the look means a lot. Could you imagine if the Dragon on Gringotts only kinda looked like it's respective film counterpart? I know those are two drastically different attractions, but there was nothing stopping them from making the head look more accurate. The body looks off also, but that's due to this being a costume and not an AA- so I am perfect fine with that.

But how the motions match the sounds? I can't get over it. Freaking impressive.

Anyways, as far as the JP community goes, they aren't too impressed with the Raptor. It's gonna be fun to see in person, but I wish it looked more like a JP raptor and less like a knock off.

My other complaint is a smaller one- they put a lot of work into making an awesome environment for this M&G but you can't really see any of it when you take a photo at the designated area. I just wish you could more easily tell it was a paddock theme.

Below is a cap from the Tracker video showing a nice crotch shot of the raptor. If only the skin can cover the front of the leg. But as the foliage grows in and if they could add intermediate grass it could give them more freedom to have it move around the paddock. I would also love to see a diagram of how this sits on the guy. Does anyone know how heavy the suit is?

I am going to give it some slack... people are being allowed to photograph it far to close, plus, some of the photogs are just too good at zooming in on the details with hyperclear photographs. I will reserve judgement based on the many that say it is super in person.

Tim Trackers distant video delighted me... I just wish they kept the people back 10' or so.

What really annoys me is the open fence... it kills the idea behind the rest of the theming and looks stupid stupid stupid. There was another way to do what they wanted to do and still hold the stress high.

Aren't the raptors in the new film 'trained' though? you wouldn't need a fence in such an instance

Yeah, I dunno, I cannot work with that idea. I like for the children to be terrified, or at least wide eyed... I think it's a hoot.

JP is one of my top 5 favorite movies, give or take. I have no freaking clue what's wrong with it.

That is the "story" of the M&G. The trainers tell you how they "tamed" them

JW is gonna make a lot of money.

Replacing JP with JW would be foolhardy, IMO.

Well, kinda but not really. That scene with Chris Pratt right next to them is an extreme instance. One of the staff fell into the paddock and he ran in there to rescue them.. he usually keeps a safe distance on the catwalks above, or has them muzzled when gets up close.

So, they aren't tame and are still very dangerous.. they're just conditioned to him and have a certain mutual respect.

Maybe so, but Creative could sure handle the challenge.
I could say the same about Marvel Super Hero Island.
Uni seems to be wanting relevance in the parks these days.

Well, the difference is there's nothing about JP that isn't relevant. Same can't be said about MSHI

You know what I would love to see? Some Pteranodon AA's roosting somewhere in the park. Maybe one or two could spread their wings and flap them on occasion. It would be super cool, and add to the 'life' of the Jurassic section.

Plus, fans of the films would just love to get photos of something like that, and kids would be awed.

Quick story. Last week I lured my GF into watching the first videos. I played her and told her a colorful BS story about how they captured a real life, thought to be extinct raptor, on a south sea island. She was actually buying it until about two thirds of the way through the video she noticed that gap in the security fence. Then she realized she had been duped. I got smacked in the back of my head for that. But, if it wasn't for the gap in the fence, she'd still be believing it was real...

Raptor Encounter looks to be a quality addition to JP, looking forward to seeing it evolve and cant wait to check it out for myself in July.

It is a fun attraction in a fun environment and should be deemed as such, although some of the kids in the videos may not deem it so much fun LOL, though it does go to show this "poorly designed Raptor suit" is indeed intimidating to some.

Some people would win a million on the lottery and complain hey didn't win two million

The end of that video is just wrong, but I couldn't help but laugh. Maybe if they put a tiera on it she would like it more. This looks like another quality addition. M&Gs aren't my thing, but I do like to watch for a couple of minutes. And this is one of the better ones to come along recently. This is a nice B Ticket attraction, which is something that Universal is a bit short on. But they are moving in the right direction.

Is it possible for them to have 2 Raptors and 2 Trainers going at the same time?
