Obviously Hollywood Drift comes first because it's furthest along, but why wouldn't Pokemon at IOA (if it's indeed Pokemon) come next? Yes, EU needs more rides for capacity. But building Pokemon would draw more people back to IOA (and for park hoppers Universal Studios), which would help alleviate some of that. But more importantly, of all those rumored additions, I have to think Pokemon would bring in the most $ by far. If I'm Universal, and my parent company just spun me off, I'd be doing everything I could to get Pokemon built ASAP, then turn my attention to other projects, even if those other projects were further along in permits or plans.

It's hard to see a big immersive land being built in under two years, so 2028 doesn't seem likely. 2029 just feels right.

This is Universal we’re talking about not Disney.

Also depends on exactly what they’re building in the space.

Jolt my memory if need be, but wasn't the notion that the Potter EU expansion would come before the Dark Universe one?

So the timeline would be:

2027: Hollywood Drift (or as I like to call it, Orlando Drift)

2028: Potter EU expansion

2029: Dark Universe expansion and Pokemon

2030: Simpsons replacement (Shrek?)

2031 beyond: anyones guess but Zelda finally, possibly a new EU land (Wicked?) or maybe something we haven't though of yet

I left out a Supercharged replacement for now since it doesn't appear to be a high priority thing at the moment to UOR management.

I think permits for HP were filed before DU, but I imagine it depends on the complexity of each one. If HP is going with the broomstick attraction and considering the theming for HP in general, that might take longer than what they’re building at DU.

I think Universal wanted to move away from VR heavy type attractions like the broomstick concept. My guesses for what the HP expansion will be are either some sort of more friendly friendly no or minimum heights dark ride or some sort of coaster. Tomfoolery alluded that each land at Epic or the resort writ large has one.

My preferred choice but we need more clues to determine what ride is gonna be.

Disney can move just as quickly.

They don’t have massive timelines like they did over the past decade.

Tropical Americas had groundbreaking ceremony on January 17, 2025. It’ll open in 2027.

Cars is a massive undertaking that they are flying through in the middle of magic kingdom with guest paths nearly encircling it.

Contrast that with GotG which took over 4 and a half years.

When they need to build quickly, like they do now, they can. Which is the frustrating part.
