This is painful to look at, and the first time that I think something very foundational to the atmosphere and "feel" of IOA is being lost.

I can't even imagine how I would have handled the daily updates of the destruction of Jaws and Amity in the modern social media era!

Again, I completely understand. It was just one of those iconic symbols of the original Islands, along with the lighthouse, Hulk, Suess Island, and Spiderman. The only semi-frustrating thing is that we will probably have to wait for a year or more before Universal provides any artwork for Pokemon.

If it is indeed Pokemon going there, and unless Nintendo and the Pokemon Company jump the gun on an announcement (sorta like Nintendo did with Super Nintendo World) I don't see us getting any real announcement for a long while... At least until more about Japan's Pokemon attraction is revealed. I know it was partly cause of COVID, but there was an almost 5 year gap between Super Nintendo World's official announcement and it's opening in Japan. Obviously with demolition ongoing it won't take that long, but I don't want them jumping the gun too early either.
