It will be all originals. No way will it involve other IPs. That’s like Universal giving out the IP rights to Jason last year. There is no way.

Ahhhh, I didn't realise that Fortnitemares has original characters in it, I thought it was a mishmash of loads of different IPs... I don't know much about Fortnite at all, really. Thank you!

With the Caretaker + Cindy scarezone, I decided to do a little research because almost all icons were before my time at HHN and I like to have a little context before the event if something new (to me) is coming. I read the wiki page and I'm a bit confused and I'm hoping an HHN old timer can help lol

So Cindy was in a fire and then became the Caretaker's daughter? And then died and then got telekinetic abilities?

Or did they just change their minds on the lore and she was the Caretaker's daughter biologically and the thing with the Bearer family didn't stick?


Also, while I know Fortnite sounds like a goofy IP to bring to HHN and I don't disagree (even as someone who plays regularly lol), I could see them doing at least some of the original characters and making them spooky. Like this one introduced last year could def be creepy in person and not cartoonified

I def don't want a bunch of kids at the event either, but I do see some potential in some of their original skins/characters

Or would that be a mash-up of 35 years of varying zones/houses, and Hollywood would feature more of the icons?

Yes, In February Chris Gardner replied to a tweet and heavily implied the tribute store is going back to the normal location.

The theming was nice, but it just felt so small. It might have felt better if they had a way of separating it into a few different rooms - and if the outside light didn't illuminate the entire store lol

Also not to be a downer - but it seems like the zones are heading the same way they did at HHN30 (mashups/best ofs). Not my ideal scenario, but we'll see!

As the self-proclaimed Caretaker expert: As far as I know Cindy was an orphan in Carey Ohio and got taken in by the Good Harvest Orphanage where the adults were neglectful of the children...because of course they were. One Halloween, Cindy, who for whatever reason has telekinetic powers, set fire to the Orphanage killing everyone inside and used the fire as a chance to escape. Somewhere along the way she gets adopted by the Caretaker, who was as the name implies, the Caretaker of the Shady Oaks Cemetery in Carey Ohio. (Though if you find press material from 2002 it claims he lives with his family in Williamette Georgia, because this was before A&D decided to center most of their original lore in Carey Ohio.) Cindy lived with the Caretaker and his family up until the townspeople figured out that he was using the bodies of their deceased loved ones in the cemetery for his experiments and research into the human soul and how to resurrect the dead. In an act of vengeance they burned his house to the ground. While the Caretaker was able to escape, Cindy perished in this fire and as a result the Caretaker redoubled his research into brining the dead back to life with the express purpose of using it to bring Cindy back to life. Somehow, someway he has succeeded as that's how she's able to pop up at the event as a living scareactor every now and then, and not as a mannequin like she was in 2006.
