State of USH - What's Next?

Despite the listed inventors being from Orlando, Hollywood has filed these two patents. Realistically it's probably just to throw people off the scent but... interesting.

SPECULATION: The ride scene that immediately came to mind at Ravage in Transformers 3D jumping onto your vehicle. The cute little frog is even on the same spot! I doubt such an old ride would randomly get a new effect, especially after such a long refurb but food for thought. Not saying it's going to happen but thats what came to mind.

I think your head is in the right place — I’d imagine their goal long-term is to be able to achieve that sort of effect without resorting to 3D imagery, which they’re clearly moving away from whenever possible.

What a jumpscare it'd be to ride Transformers again all of a sudden Ravage is real haha

Could you imagine how much more dope Transformers would be if they relied heavily on animatronics and practical effects? It would be a game changer.

I did hear that ride was supposed to have an Optimus animatronic at the end a while back.

The new Studio Mill has now completed itself as they begin work on the area inbetween that and of Earthquake (probably repaving and redoing the road).

I would love to see them do away with The Simpsons Ride at some point and have it replaced with something else. Aside from space, are there any limitations to what can go there given where the structure is built? I have a vague recollection about this being the case with the Terminator building because it's built on top of a parking structure. Maybe I'm misremembering but I swear that was a thing. I wouldn't want them to just re-use the same ride system as before, would want to see something totally new.

We have no real rumors and nothing is being worked on....yes the new Mill and Tech Services buildings are either done or being worked on but no land is even being cleared right now for the next thing...so 2029 we'd be lucky if even by then we see something

Even if they think the coaster will boost them for as long as SNW, that means 2028 we might see something smaller like Dreamworks change, MK or DM being updated but really not much else I could see coming until 2029 at this point

If I could pick any show to go in there that already exists, I would put the Jason Bourne show in there. Second choice would probably be the Untrainable Dragon or something of that caliber.

Forgive my crude Microsoft Paint work here. I know this isn't an "Armchair Imagineering" thread and this concept has no basis in reality given what we know is happening within the parks but I think with some clever tree/foliage placement, you could so something special to "enclose" the current Simpsons area.



Red is attraction space, blue is shopping/dining. Basically the same layout they have currently with an updated theme. My vote would go towards a "Darkmoor Lite". I'm sure that's probably been discussed here before and probably kind of "eye-roll-y" for many to hear again but what can I say, I love the Monsters! I don't think they should do a Monsters Unchained 1:1 (not that they could if they wanted to and ESPECIALLY with Forbidden Journey a few steps away), but I think they could certainly convert the Simpsons building into an elaborate dark ride of some kind after seeing what they were able to accomplish with Pets. Maybe Orlando's version goes one way into Frankenstein Manor for the experience through the catacombs ride and Hollywood's follows a different path which leads to a dark ride which takes place inside the Manor proper?

Wouldn't need to be perfect, I give Hollywood a lot of leeway when it comes to sightlines and such because it's always been a hodgepodge studio park where sightlines aren't as important to me as the other parks. -and it certainly doesn't need to be Monsters, just about any franchise could utilize this footprint.

It is sort of nuts now far back shows/live entertainment have been scaled when you compare the current park with what was previously offered. Years ago there was like 6-7 shows minimum and now there are.. 3? That's me being super generous and counting the Ollivanders experience as one. I wouldn't be against a well-made show going here but I imagine in today's world it would need to be something super marketable that moves merch. So something like HTTYD would have a way better shot of showing up than another iteration of the Special Effects Stage. Maybe that would be a bit redundant with a Dreamworks-branded theatre so close by? Then again, if it sells, maybe not!
