Starting my construction timer. Based on Uni's past construction build timelines...

Hogsmeade -> October 2028
Diagon Alley -> April 2028
VelociCoaster -> August 2028
Hagrid's -> January 2028

So Summer 2028 if they follow this sort of timeline.

2028 is probably Potter at EU first, I suspect 2029 here.

2028 is looking to be a very busy year for Universal, huh? Kinda' strange it's taken them so long to finish all those attractions, but I hope they're good! (All in good jest, of course.~ )

If this timeline holds and both LC and whatever potter attraction in EU wraps in 2028, they can get those crews on the Simpsons replacement ASAP.

You definitely misread me, since I was playfully pointing out that somehow Hogsmeade, Diagon Alley, VelociCoaster and Hagrid's are all listed as opening in 2028.

Generally, Universal spreads out their openings to maximize marketing and attendance. That's a good business practice, though not necessarily fan oriented. I'd expect that to continue, though it could still include two new attractions in a year, one in Feb./March, another in Nov. /Dec. ...Summer openings aren't as important as they used to be since summer attendance has declined in the past 8 to 9 years.

If I had a nickel for every demo permit TLC has gotten, I'd be able to afford a UFP with Express!

I will be at Islands in just over three weeks. I just want to be able to say goodbye to the facade for Poseidon.

And for a city area, I would like if they went with a japanese building style for the architecture. That would make it more unique (at least for the US) than a basic cityscape. I know in the more modern generations they moved away from that, but the first couple of generations was based on different regions of japan.

Not to mention this would give Islands the opportunity to finally have some good food. Granted, I use yet to eat at Mythos, but food is not exactly a strong point of IoA, save for the sweet treats.

Johto’s Ecruteak City (at least as a part of the land) is a must. Possibly the most beautiful location in the series.IMG_8892.webp

As amazing as this would be I honestly think the best bet would be to go off of Winds and Waves for the look of the land. As we see in the trailer it wouldn’t at all hinder older Pokémon from appearing and will also tie into a current game which seems to be Nintendo’s goal based on the current Super Nintendo World. That land was designed when Super Mario 3D World, Mario Kart 8, and Retro Studios’ Donkey Kong Country were the latest games in their respective series. Pokémon will likely open 2/3 years after Winds and Waves release.

We’re assuming the Pokemon land hasn’t been developed for years already.

Also, Tropical Freeze came out before MK8, so it was out when they stated designing the land.

I was referring to both games. The design of Funky’s plane in the land comes from Tropical Freeze. He was absent completely from Returns.

It’s not impossible for the land to have been guided design wise alongside the new games especially when it won’t be open until years after they’re out. Nintendo has clearly stated that video games are still their main business and that all these other ventures are to funnel people to buying their hardware and games. Looking at what they’ve built so far it just seems clear that they want to use the latest games during the design process of theme park lands which for Pokémon would mean Scarlet & Violet and/or Winds & Waves. The only outlier here is using the Twilight Princess designs for the Zelda windows in Epic.

This land never really was my favorite growing up, but I’ve acquired a lot for it as I got older. Days where I would wander the park by myself and find myself in Poseidon were some good memories.

Question: it’s been mentioned that demolition is going to happen, but construction on a new project may not happen immediately. Is that still true?

I think that was just someone's speculation that wasn't based on any rumors.

I mean really though…odds are we’re getting Kanto or something to do with Kanto. They used 3D World and Returns as a base cause they’re pretty close to the default image of Mario and Donkey Kong environments. I doubt they base it off one of the newer regions. Like close to 0 chance. Always bet on Kanto.
