I’m surprised that for all the hubub…. No one’s talked about what’s gonna happen to Duff Brewery/ the neighboring food shops!

This is most likely off topic but I think it's in Universal's best interest to close one store at a time and retheme it into something more... "generic" I guess? Something that's just a base and can be easily painted over to fit with whatever replaces Simpsons. So then when Simpsons takes its leave it isn't as big of a disruption to the center of the park and the resteraunts can continue to operate. It'd be a huge bummer for me, I like the Simpsons theming more than the actual ride lol, but it's more efficient imo

Not to throw this thread off the rails, but once Springfield’s time closes, it will be interesting to see how they pull it off. I’m thinking they will be as quick as possible with the changeover given it’s in a vital artery of the park.

I wonder how much the troubles Stardust Racers has been having impacted Hollywood Drift. I understand the completely different manufacturers but food for thought

Probably none. Not just different manufacturers but different coasters entirely. Drift has the controlled spinning where Racers is a straight-forward launch coaster.

It’s going to be hard. Whole food menus will have to change. There’s quite a lot of logistical stuff that needs to happen too lol new uniforms as well. It’s gonna cost a lot of money

I mean, is it? You swap burgers, pizza, and chicken sandwiches for... burgers, pizza, and chicken sandwiches. Sure, the finishings/plating will change, and you swap out uniforms, but otherwise, it's just a restaurant retheme.

The toughest part of the project will likely be crowd flow, since you'll need walls to go up and restrict that already congested artery to redo the facades. I expect they'll do one side at a time to compensate.

lol I wish it would be that easy but even simple menu changes require some work

...I'm aware. Your claim is that it's going to be hard and cost a lot of money. I'm saying, relatively speaking, it won't, nor will it be the most demanding or complex part of the (eventual) project.

I mean, I assume we are no where near them rethemeing the Duff Gardens area

The earliest, you'd think would be next January during the slow season

There’s currently no rumors or even speculation on this area even getting changed, the only talks I see on the internet.

Yeah, makes sense the Duff Gardens does well and assume they will only change it when they have to

Man I personally hope it never goes away. I know about all the rumors but as a lifelong Simpsons fan, I want it to stay forever lol

I love the Simpsons too, I hope they strike a deal and they somehow make the ride a more traditional dark ride but I understand thats a huge ask

The Simpsons ride system is begging to be put down at this point. Hopefully that is what is earmarked for Pokemon if it comes to USH.

I have a feeling Simpsons will become Wicked, considering the comments made long ago about Wicked begging to become a theme park land. Pokemon will probably be added behind/replace the Mummy.

Is Wicked merch actually selling? Might be an indicator on if it’s coming or not.

The store closed recently, but merch sales die over time regardless of how popular an IP is (unless its a legacy one). I'm not gonna pretend I know everything but these are my personal thoughts: The first movie had a humongous cultural impact and was my first ever full house in a theatre for a good while. The second wasn't as high regarded, but Water World wasn't either and its one of the most popular attractions in the park. I 100% see Universal fast tracking Wicked imo

Alr enough throwing the thread off track but id be happy to keep talking in the Future of USH one

Pretty sure they can't touch FFB until the end of the Simpsons contract with Disney.
