Can I ask what your route was with time codes? Only way I found it manageable was waiting for Galkn at 5:45 and then hitting Fallout after once the S&S crowd was able to die down. By the time I finished Fallout, the park got busy.

Yeah that's not really how we approach HHN lol, our route is "decide what we want to do at that time."

We always started at the front of the park though.

Those are two completely different experiences.

Good question! I'd assume both, but we should be able to find out later.

Yeah, the cheaper one has about a dozen new E-ticket experiences, the more expensive two.

Well, I wasn't expecting to spend over $1200 on HHN tickets today but here we are lol. Only thing that really stinks is I don't have time today to call and get the AP discount on my RIP Tour. Last year I was on hold for over 2 hours and most dates sold out quickly.

It is open to all guests with an HHN ticket per folks I asked.

Do I appreciate every attempt to lower lines? Of course, it's the biggest issue with the event. But ... Devil's advocate:
  • 13-hour shifts has to mean a third shift of actors--that's three full casts extra now (with the option to add more). I'm not sure Orlando can supply that. I'm not sure UOR is truly willing to pay for that. I kind of assumed the shift to less staffing in houses was to free up actors for an 11th house, but maybe it was this.
  • 2020 taught us that lines in Summer mid-day heat are no joke. Ops better be ready to do a lot of extra prep here. And what a lousy way to go through a house from a guest perspective.
  • More esoteric, but starting at 2 pm destroys the mystique. An August Saturday afternoon is neither Halloween nor a night. The perception is that the event is less adult as well, when it's covered in the halo of daytime ops.
  • Finally, this is Orlando, no one has a real job. There will be lines for the top two houses forming by noon every day, largely defeating the purpose. (This is assuming any AP can get in line, that it's not paywalled to S&S--seen no confirmation one way or the other.
On the first point, it's a shame if that's what the ultimate goal is. Keep staffing equal to that of last year, but just spread the cast thin?

If there's one thing that Florida parks do best, is that they forget that it gets hot and uncomfortable in Florida. That Terrifier queue out in the asphalt under the August/September sun is no fun. They did solve the problem with the FNAF/WWE and Fallout/Galkn queues, but I hope all the other houses get dedicated shelters and fans.

While I do agree that starting a Halloween event in the middle of the day in August is questionable, the event has gotten so dang popular that I'm ok with this move. I loved last year's event, but didn't love the crowds. We would try to fit in a house or two during S&S, watch HNF and leave. This option would at least get us to do more houses earlier in the day (and IMO the best as your eyes don't adjust yet lol).

I will say this and something else this week I can't discuss seem to be a tell--UOR is terrified of pricing out its casual customer base. The superfans will drop over a grand, but a 1-night ticket remains well under $100. Contrast with WDW and $200 for a single night at peak. A brief peek into corporate culture over there.

~7-8 years ago when WDW started to price their special events at $100+ I could have sworn Universal would follow, I guess they have data to suggest that HHN won't do well in that sort of model.

I think a combination of "regular dates" and more premium nights is the best mix for your financials and customer experience.

My hope is that this level of thinking applies to Epic Universe APs eventually. They know that pricing the park at a premium will end eventually and you'll need the AP base to come in.

Language in the ticket does appear to be the same as last year, so I'd imagine this is will include APs and any day guest tickets.

Imagine you can use Express during the S&S openings?

All 10 houses done by 7PM incoming

I'd imagine yes. It'll be interesting to see how they handle DAS this year. Last year they were essentially providing return times beyond the S&S time.

At the very least, if they implement a similar policy, they should have those DAS tables ready to go at 2PM instead of making folks trek back to the house only to then receive a 1-2 hour return time.

Universal AAP has already been integrated into the app and is phasing out the physical pass entirely. There is a huge possibility that they won't even need the tables this year as it can all be done on the app from picking the ride/show and getting a return time, to switching them if you don't want it.

I’ve stated on here several times that more houses is not the main thing HHN needs right now (I want that festival center and some extra shows).

But if they’re opening houses at 2pm, they probably need more houses.

I agree with your first point.

On the 2nd point though, if you are opening 3 houses at 2PM, you don't need an 11th house for capacity reasons as a good chunk of guests will "move away" from those opened up houses and moving elsewhere, leaving those houses somewhat cleared up for the new guests coming in.

Using last year and some rough math, Terrifier last year was posting 60-90 minute posted waits at S&S, and would remain like that until opening. Giving the most popular houses 3 hours of S&S guests should theoretically reduce the queue by a significant margin by the time the event opens to non-S&S guests. A 30-min posted wait at the start of the event as those S&S guests move the newly opened houses is much better.

I tried the first time and the line kept glitching and cutting out. When I called back, it was smooth.

I'm in the call queue for private RIP, interested to see now long the call actually takes. It was about 1.5 hours for me last year to talk to someone who just took my info, and I got the call back later that day.

Do we really think they'll make the 3 Scream Early houses the biggest ones?

Seems like something they'd want to save for the actual event, imo

Right now, the 6 house tour is completely sold out for all of September. The first morning of release, do you think this is a glitch or real?
