Someone sent me an IG video from Minatureversal

King Kong is back open and it does not have 3D any more

The positives are the projections have much more color and are clearer

Glad the screens are clearer. They should be with the absence of 3D.

Universal Studios Hollywood removes 3D from King Kong 360 on Studio Tour

Universal Studios Hollywood has removed the 3D component from its King Kong 360 attraction on the Studio Tour. The park recently updated its official website to reflect the change, confirming that the attraction is now being shown in 2D. The experience continues to feature the same large-scale scre

Disappointing, but expected.

Have to wonder when TF is next.

As we've discussed previously, that's more complicated. That attraction is more reliant on dynamic 3D visuals in a way that Despicable Me or even Kong inherently aren't due to the latter examples' fixed rider positions. Furthermore (and more importantly), Transformers is an external IP. They would have to negotiate with Paramount to permit the removal of 3D, and I don't see why they'd agree to do that.

I'm so glad they're not able to remove the 3D on TF so easily. If they ever do remove it, just close the ride entirely. I don't care if it's just sitting there rotting away but there's no point to TF if the 3D isn't on it.

Guess Dreamworks getting 3D support for future films/FFN is looking less and less likely.

Personally think it's a damn shame they axed it from Kong, the 3D still made things pop out even before its removal, and it was always fun hearing people react to the 3D spider.

This removal of 3D on Kong does reinforce two ideas that I think are inevitable:

1) Whatever replaces Supercharged will not use 3D.

2) Kong 360 is not for the longterm. I’d say it’s got 10 years left max. We want a real and physical Kong please and thank you.
