Probably to readjust the cable. Over time the cable stretches and when it does, the train no longer aligns correctly in Kings Cross (it's tough enough each train already stops in a different spot). Usually it consists of trimming the cable (not replacing), testing, making new markings for the gates in Kings Cross, and then reopening

Interesting! Have they ever replaced the cable or do they always just trim and cut?

Its been replaced but it its more common to trim. It's a HUGE wheel and replacing the cable is much more work than trimming it. It was trimmed once when I was working there (I hated trying to line up those gates in Kings Cross. It seemed the positions for trains 1 and 2 changed every day)

It's just like a skyride-- adjust the cable periodically, then full replacement every so many years.

The railings on one side of the bridge between Seuss and LC is still being worked on. The resurfacing of the bridge walkway is just about finished.

Hoping it's more aligned to POE's theme. Always jarring entering a normal looking Starbucks

Depositing a thougjt as it’s beginning to creep in. I wonder with the full repainting of the front entrance buildings, if that might actually be applied to the main archway.

Modernizing it with the new Universal Studios Florida logo and with bringing it to be consistent in Hollywood with the white/grey accented colors might be a great way to go back to what it was in the past.

I'm hoping that someday the USF arch gets demoed and rebuilt. Not likely but one can dream, amirite?

While the current arches could use some TLC, sometimes I think you guys want change for the sake of change...

Eh, if Cinderella's Castle can get some color pallete changes every so often, we can too! :lmao:

Like I said earlier in the thread, I personally think the original white tones are prettier looking than the yellow ones they've currently got. It's nothing I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for, but it would be a positive little change I'd appreciate.

I also never personally saw it in white, so the nostalgia is just a little thematic bonus as opposed to a "good ol' days" thing. I don't really have that kind of connection to it.

Sometimes idle speculation is simply idle speculation (tbh, it’s been over 20 years since their last major refresh of the entrance plaza. With Hollywood Drift I can actually buy a light refresh even if it’s aa @DOOMBOT brings up of being just a simple Cinderella’s Castle).

I believe he was referencing the demolition, not the painting
