The same guy who found the notice (big up to him) also says they've already started closing off the top access point - e.g. the location for DigitalDan and The Field ™.

Indeed, the public footpaths are all now closed earlier than the notices say!

Reading the notice more closely it acutally states the footpaths will be closed from the 7th to the 28th (guessing they had to wait til the SoS signed off on the CEMP). With another temp closure following.

i was told Wednesday they were fully closed in core zone, but didn’t have a chance to check - security has also been upped with the guard coming out to speak to me about my drone.

We had a good chat about the drone, visibility, visual line of sight and how some photos that he thought were outside of the drone code were legal.

Found out today my best mate is going to be helping with the project. He works for a haulage company that will be doing deliveries to the site. So I'll be sure to try and plumb him for secret info whenever I can :P. He might even pop up on @ProjectUniversal or @masekwm videos if they catch him when he's doing a delivery.

Two new trademarks have been filed the last few days, after over a month of none. These are 'Universal Monsters' and 'Oztacular Spectacular' could this mean there'll be a Monsters and Oz attractions? The trademarks are not under class 41 theme parks (yet) so I wonder how likely this is or is it just for other things such as merchandise. 'Emerald City' has also been trademarked.

'Oztacular Spectacular' sure sounds like a show to me, and the songs and story of Wicked would lend themselves very well to a theme park show.

Marketing now? When the film's cinematic run has been and gone? It's sus to me. Oztacular Spectacular brings up nothing on google so has to be for something in the future. I think it's got to be related to the park. If an IP is big enough to have a lot of merch it should have an attraction/show.

They’d be trademarking everything right now I assume just in case wouldn’t they?

It may happen, it may never happen.

After the recent news of Pokémon at Universal Studios Japan, Universal GB should have a Pokémon attraction there.

I’m sure some people will love it and I know it’s ridiculously popular and I’m definitely of the age where people were swapping cards in the early 00s in the school playground but honestly it’s not my thing, never understood it personally :lmao:

But there’ll be something for everyone haha

It’s for marketing. It’s been used in blurbs for the Scholastic kids books based on Wicked. The classes listed on the trademark are merchandise and marketing, not theme park.

There’s been several like it since the second movie released related to Wicked marketing terms and logos marked in the UK.

We’re probably a ways away from any attractions getting marks. We got ‘Epic Universe’ trademarked like 3 or 4 years before the first ride was after all.

I think it’s easy to read too much in to trade marks, including class 41 marks which include their use in theme parks. Registering a trade mark is cheap as chips and big companies, especially with lots of IP in their portfolio, tend to spray them around quite liberally, often with no intent beyond protecting the IP.

On the Pokémon note, this article suggests the plan would be to roll out to other Universal parks worldwide after Japan. That could include the UK.

Pokémon Sword and Shield’s Galar region takes its inspiration from the UK…

It does! Though I would expect that for the widest appeal they'd probably stick with the Kanto region as the Pokémon from there are most likely to be ones people recognise.

Maybe but also the Pokemon can be from any generation and still fit into whatever land they do

In Japan they seem to be using mostly Kanto but when the ghost are out its only like Gingar from generation 1, so seems like they are open to having more Pokemon then the first 151

Update: same phrase now trademarked in US
