I can appreciate the name. Taking the park back to its original Hollywood and movie studio roots. Could've been called "Studio Drift" or "Backlot Drift" though.

Hilarious out of touch behavior from them, but I assume it's like everyone else said to save money on merch, copying theming, etc. I changed my comment to reflect reality now haha.

Lmao - they really didn’t want to make more merch.

They could have created distinctive equity in their Orlando resort to drive awareness and visitation by out-of-state theme park and coaster fans who now will be slightly unclear where Hollywood Drift is located (and once it opens in USH, that is where they will think it is located, only).

They could have clarified that USF even had themed areas (New York), an important consideration in a competitive theme park market. And of course they could have enhanced the placemaking and avoided the confusion about the big "Hollywood" ride not being in the Hollywood area.

And they could have owned "Drift" as the element of continuity among a class of coasters worldwide, each a bit distinctive in terms of geographic theme which would perfectly make sense for the F&F brand.

BTTF, a franchise famously set in fictional Cali, was not perfect for this.

At least with Ghostbusters, I'd get it.

As far as the name, I don't like it either, but it's supposed to be just like USH's plot of "Making the movies" - so Hollywood, in this case, isn't the "location".

A definite heavy reach, but somewhat kinda sorta understandable-ish in a way.

Maybe the idea here is that we’re not in “New York”. We’re going behind the scenes of the studio park. If it’s all happening between sound stages/near Citywalk, maybe New York isn’t really fitting either.
