Yeah, the virtual queues are great for me (I hate lines, I get up early) but bad for the theme park ecosystem. There's an analogy in there somewhere...

The amount of people I see complaining they still had to wait up to an hour in queue AFTER they waited for their “virtual line” kinda null and voids this argument when it comes to how the Disney boarding groups actually work. It’s just a reservation time to get into the standby queue. And then LL getting priority slows that down considerably as well.

This is what happened to me. Naively got excited when my boarding time was called at 8:35pm when I’d been at the park since just before 1pm, only to find out when I got to the ride there was still an 80min wait. I bailed a queue for the first time ever.

Came back a few days later with a booked lightning lane and it was straight in. Great ride too.

I watched videos last night of this. As a huge NIN fan (saw them last week in Tampa!), it's not enough NIN. As we all know, the ride is too short to feature enough of the score. But I do still want to check this out immediately. Sucks I left Orlando the day before it started.
