Well--today's the day TSI dies.

I wonder how fast they're going to get to work on draining the area of the lagoon. Have to imagine that it'd be relatively quick.

If I could drive the bulldozer over to that area of the park I absolutely would. Bring on Cars!

I don’t mind the Cars ride in isolation, even though I don’t think it will be half as good as RSR. What really grinds my gears is that this is completely unnecessary. This should’ve gone where the Tomorrowland speedway was. No one would miss it! No one! They picked the worst location for this. Disney is on a roll with travesties.

Agree, I don't want Disney PR to ever utilize the words "blessing of size" ever again.

With the Monsters Inc coaster permits/plan revealed now, there was really no need to remove the Muppets. The coaster building is so far back that you could have started the land immediately to the left of Muppets, and have enough space for the land.

I'm not against them cutting into the Rivers of America (or removing the Liberty Belle as an attraction), but removing all that water and adjusting what Frontierland means is ludicrous. I'm not anti-shoving IPs into the parks, but this is an obvious shoehorn with no attempt at

You say no one would miss it, but I actually think there would be MORE outrage if Tomorrowland Speedway was getting replaced LOL

Cars replacing TSL will "make up" for the loss of the Speedway. While I'm sure there will be outrage, I think the pros of removing it heavily outweigh the cons (improved ride capacity, additional walking space, etc.)

Edit: Just opened up the WDW app... so startling to see the RoA removed. Feels like a different park now. Almost like the DCA overhaul lol

The problem is people hate original attractions replaced.

Plus this area is part of the aesthetic and theming of MK so that’s a loss.

However I’m confident that Piston Peak will provide a new sense of place that will make longtime fans happy.

I'm looking forward to Cars Land and Villains Land. Sure, TSL had lots of nostalgia love. But times had passed it by and it wasn't getting much guest love anymore. Even though it comprised a large area, it didn't have the fun and exploring value that a much smaller Camp Jurassic has.

Maybe I missed it, but have they given a rough open date? At this stage I would expect something along the lines of "Coming in 2026, or 2027" Not an actual day on the calendar.

If you believe them, they said everything announced last year would debut within 5 years. So, expect it sometime 2028-2029.

Honestly I wouldn't be shocked if this opens late 2027 early 2028.

I think people will be surprised by how fast this, and other projects, go up.

Tom Sawyer Island just didn’t work anymore…in the 70’s, sure. In 2025, when it’s taking up prime real estate in the busiest park in the world? Different story.

The idea of it is fine (and the playgrounds at Universal prove that) but logistically it was a mess. What’s the point of having a place for kids to blow off steam if it requires making them wait for a cramped and slow boat to take them over there? If you could walk to the island maybe you’d have something more people would’ve appreciated, but that would make you lose the boat anyway.

Also, I know people clown on “blessing of size” but this really was not a case of replacement over expansion because they really had no choice. To connect Big Thunder to Haunted Mansion with the river in tact, you’d have to walk an insane distance not just around the river (and have more walking real estate devoted to externally-radiating attraction entrances) but also have a pretty substantial hike in the current backstage area between Big Thunder and Splash. That’s a lot to ask the average family/visitor in this heat.

I actually rode the boat quite a bit (I think more than most of the most vocal opposers can say for themselves) and am super bummed it’s going away…but realistically there was no world where MK could meaningfully expand in a way its attendance needs it to without getting rid of it.

If a water feature and greenery can be incorporated into the Cars ride, I think everyone will be okay.

But yet, somehow, Disneyland managed to add Galaxy's Edge behind its river.

I'm excited for an area that will make Magic Kingdom more unique. To me the park feels unloved compared to the effort & care that goes into keeping Disneyland fresh. This, along with Villains will give this park it's own identity so it can, finally, move away from being just a weak version of Disneyland, and a unique park in it's own right. Bring it on.

Disneyland’s dead end was truly a dead end, it didn’t have a massive roller coaster in the way. It’s also so much smaller you can’t even make that comparison in good faith.

Agreed. Out of the all the current parks in the US right now, I'm most excited for Magic Kingdom's future. I love that park very much and I'm hyped to see more unique offerings at my home park. Also might be a hot take but I wouldn't mind MK losing It's A Small World next. I know it won't happen but the WDW version of IASW is my least favorite version that I've experienced. Bring the TDS Tangled ride!

It's a major step in the right direction, assuming they nail the Cars & Villains ride, but it's only a few steps in what has been a neglected park.

I still feel Adventureland needs more...adventure and the speedway needs ripping out so that a further expansion of Fantasyland can take its place, as there are sections of that land - the most popular land in the so called most popular park in the world, that look weak.

They seem to be doing a better job on refreshing, with Thunder and Buzz, but questions remain over their plan for Space Mountain, the area around Stitch and presumably soon, Monsters inc. Good to see a nighttime parade coming back. Not yet experienced Tianna or Tron.

Basically they need to spend a ton of money to make up for many years of not doing so!
